We prepared to leave. Mihawk had prepared us a small boat stocked with what we may need. Everything is ready. All we need to do is set sai and so I stand before him, Dracule Mihawk, ready to leave his home.
" I'm leaving." I've never left home before. What is one supposed to say. That I'll come back? To be well? He doesn't look up from his paper.
" Mi hija, Layla, stay alive." His single statement though none all too beautiful or sensitive, brought tears to my eyes. The tears that I swore I wouldn't shed. He finally looks my way. "Be safe" He stands slowly from his chains and why he suddenly feel so far away, I don't know. I feel a gentle push on my back and I find myself stumbling, running back towards him and even before I raise my arms to hug him, his are already a open, absorbing me in his hug. not his one armed hug or a one sided hug but the kind of hug that makes you feel wam and complete. He holds my head against his chest as if he is caressing a babe, gently running his fingers through my hair. His arm keeps name close, safe against his form. I can hear the thundering sound of his bellowing heart beat. Calm, strong, loud, and more than anything, reassuring that he is here.
" I will be safe and stay alive. I'll be strong, so strong that they'll send you, a war lord to capture me. Thank you so much for everything.." I cry, and ugly kind of cry but he just hums. I feel his pulling away and passing me to the green hair man who declared to take me away. I watch as they nod to each other, understanding one another with a simple gesture.
" Roronoa Zoro. The next time we cross blades, we battle for my title." With that we left and though I was tempted to, I never looked back. It's quite interesting the difference in emotion between leaving this man, who I've only known for 2 years and the emotion I felt leaving Law, the brother I lost as a child. Both times I cried yet this time, my heart is light, no guilt, or fear, or misery. Perhaps it's because there is a person beside me this time.

We reached Sabaody following the scrap of paper that Zoro held onto. It pointed us in the direction of a bar. Zoro slowly opens the door, stepping in. He motions for me to follow. An older man and a woman sat at the bar. They seemed surprised to see him, Zoro I mean.
"What no one's here yet?" I can almost feel the happiness radiating off of his body.
" and who might this be? I don't remember a pretty thing like you being in monkey's crew." The woman's offers us a seat smile in sweetly. " Ah, she's Layla. Not quite a crew member yet but we'll see how it goes." His introduction of me is brief so instead I push him away and offer my hand to shake to the 2 older people.
" My name is Dracule D Layla. You may have met my younger brother 2 years ago, Trafalgar Law?" His face lights up at the mention of 2 years ago.
" Oh! You were the girl that was with the heart pirates that's right. Now how did you end up with the name Dracule? Sound like a good story. Why not an old man like me." He smiles kindly and pulling up a chair beside himself, pouring me a glass of whatever it was that he's drinking. He takes me hand pulling me over but just as I move to sit beside the grey haired man, I'm shoved to the next seat over, a protective arm around my shoulder.
" Hey old man, i get that your legendary and all but don't be getting friendly with my girl." The old man bursts out laughing raising up his hand. " Alright alright. She can tell me from there. Might as well tell me how y'all met while your at it." He's a good hearted old man, taking everything said lightly. Maybe this goes to show just how strong this man really is.
It's quite a long story but they listen intent on finding out all the details. I enjoy their company and they seem to have good insight on how everything works.
" So originally Trafalgar D Sea Layla. Your brother is Trafalgar D Water Law. you also had a sister names Trafalgar D Ocean Diane. Your parents must have really loved the pirate life!" He laughs out loud in a contagious way resulting me even Zoro chuckling.
" The truth is, I don't remember them very much. Just a few memories here and there. A lot happened and I at the end of the day, I found myself with more memories of Mihawk than my real parents. That's why he gave me his name Dracule. Dracule D Layla is who I am now." I give them a summarized version and they take it all in.
" And that;s where you met and trained with lover boy." The woman takes a puff of her smoke. Zoro steps out of his stool stretching his arms above his head.
" How bout we head out and find something to do till everyone get here. Might as well get a good look around." He holds out his hand for me and I take it.
" Hyu hyu. Not only a swordsman, a gentleman too." The older man teases but Zoro has mastered the art of ignoring things he doesn't want to hear. I laugh and bow to the others in the bar.
" It was very nice meeting you two, I hope to meet and talk again." That's all I get out before Zoro starts dragging me out of the Zara and ito the streets.

We ended up wandering around for a few days before we even heard a speck of new about the rest of the crew and that was the beginning of a new adventure
