A shower of meteors.

Chapter 2

Annie tried to find them amongst the collapsed passage and was unsuccessful. A part of her mind cried out to her "What if he's dead" another part cried "It's good if he is… remember he exposed you…. He deserved it , focus on Eren, he's the target. She dashed her hand into the ground opening up a path into the tunnel just to kill another member of the survey corp. She was about to lean down to look for eren when she heard them. It looked as if the entire survey corp rushed at her with swords drawn. She had to defend herself first before she could think about Eren or him…..

As she prepared for battle her mind went back to that day months ago when they had their first real conversation.

It has been 2 weeks since they started training together. During this time Annie had engaged in small conversations with him.

Their conversations were short and to the point ones.

But with each day they got better and longer. 

Armin was surprised that she didn't bring up the fact that she caught him staring at her and wasn't at all angry at him.

Annie tried to actually teach him about combat instead of kicking his ass every time. She didn't let him win though.

But there were little to no improvements.

Days passed and soon it was their third week together and that's when it happened.

The entire 104th was eating together in the dining hall at night. Everyone was at their normal spots eating. Sasha was gobbling don't food like there will be no tomorrow. Jean and Eren were hurling insults at each other. Basically just another normal day.

That's when Annie spotted Armin sneaking out of the hall. "What the hell was he doing?" she thought. 

She told Mina that she was going to her room and decided to follow. A part of her mind told her it was a bad idea "Don't let him distract you" it said but there was always this curious part of mind that compelled her to follow him. Like come on what could possibly go wrong from following Armin right???  

She followed him out; he walked out from the balcony and went across toward the fields. He had a lantern in his hand and had his side bag with him.

He went by the fields to a ridge on the far side of the field. Annie followed him. Slowly she climbed over the ridge only to see him lying there staring at the sky.

"Ar..Armin what are you doing here?" She asked

Armin looked at her "Hey Annie.. I am stargazing.. do you know there is going to be a meteor shower today??"

"No"

"I see why don't you come down here and lie down. It's going to be beautiful,"he said.

Once again her mind was in conflict but she decided to ignore them and lie down.

She lay at his side staring into the sky.

Soon he was pointing out to each star telling her it's name. Explaining stuff about the constellations and the celestial bodies.

Her mind was racing at that moment; she could neither hear Armin nor speak, just listen to him and look at him.

She stared at him, he was looking like an excited kid who had just got a present as he told her of the stars.

Suddenly she felt a shrug on her shoulder. He shook her and said look it's starting.

Snapping back into reality she looked at the heavens. One after one meteors fell. It was a beautiful sight. 

" It's so beautiful ", she said.

"Ya…."

"Armin, do you know.. why do these showers happen??" She asked

"Well according to my book they are space rocks that burn up when they enter the atmosphere of our planet."

"What book??"

"It's a book about the world  ,wait I'll show you" he said pulling the book out of his bag.

He put it out on the ground and in the light of the lantern started showing her it's pages and explained what they said.

He stood her about the ocean, the fields of lava and deserts.

She was left astonished and even though she knew what most of them was due to her origin in Marley she still asked him about them.

He gladly told her everything he knew.

They talked for hours regarding the places in the book and things written in them.

Ohhh how she wished she could go back to that day.
She dodged a survey corp soldier and crushed another. While protecting her nape with one hand.
Suddenly she saw Mikasa and Armin were out but Eren wasn't with them. Mikasa rushed at her with her swords drawn.
Armin used his odm gear to get to the roof.

"Ahhh" someone had cut a part of her leg..
"Damm"she said "I need to focus, there are just too many of them. I should run. I'll come back for eren later"

She took one final look at Armin before turning and started running towards the wall.
