Aideen

Welcome to the lovely first chapter of my rewrite. The first time I started writing this, it was kind of centered on Aideen and not a multiple POV like I wanted. I rushed and put out horrible content, so I scrapped the entire project, and I'm redoing it all. I refined what I had and where I wanted the story to go and decided to keep the idea but start from before they get to the academy.

I want to bring out aspects of what their lives were like before and kind of shine light on their abilities before they even recognized themselves as being different. Most of their abilities are able to be considered coincidental, so that idea sprung to life when I did a draft.

Their will be a schedule for publishing chapters, making content online, and just interacting with you all. I'm thankfully no longer in school, but I do have to work, so the idea is to publish one chapter every week and make at least two videos or posts a week. Depending on how things change in the next two weeks, that may change.

Please be kind to one another, and please give positive criticism. Here is the song for this chapter. And here is a little note, you will not like a few of the characters for a while. :) Doesn't mean you won't later.

"It's okay, death doesn't want me either,"

~1~

Listen, I know I've killed a lot of people. I blame it on my dad, I'm his only heir to his mafia empire. Kind of expected I know how to at least handle a gun. Except for the fact I became his ghost. Some actually refer to me as such, my father though he refers to me as "maraí fir." In English, it means "killer of men." Quite fitting seeing as I've taken down rivaling empires just so my father stayed on top. I guess it is my own free will to kill people as well, but I think blaming my father makes it all the easier to ignore accountability.

Which I'm doing in this meeting. A bunch of old men around a table discussing my latest assignment and how it went horribly sideways. All because I decided to save trafficked women over killing the mafia prince to the Russo line. They think I could do both, which I could have easily. Do they need to know that? Not at all. Making abused women trust someone isn't easy at all, I took a chance, and they are all mad because we missed our shot. Tragic for them.

"... she can't be trusted not to make the same mistake again."

My blood turned to ice. "A mistake?" If he wasn't my father's right hand, I would cut his tongue out for that.

"Yes. A mistake. That's what you made, Aideen. You made a bad choice in your judgment that cost us thousands of dollars."

"Do you think I give a shit about a hit I can easily complete tomorrow? No, I don't. I saved 100 women yesterday from a fate you couldn't ever imagine. Shut your mouth and sit down before I take away your ability to speak." I glanced towards my father before continuing, "I have a plan to complete my assignment at the ball tomorrow night. No need to worry about your thousands of dollars when they are being put to good use by teaching you manners and patience."

That's the end of this chapter for now, don't want to get too ahead in this story. It might feel like it moves fast during the background writing but trust me it will slow down.
