It was Wednesday and Maya had just got home from her 24 hours shift. Carina was off shift and had just woken up. It was one of those rainy days in Seattle, one of the many, and as Maya walked in she remembered that today there was a guest coming... Carina's ex lover.

"hey, Babe" Maya said leaving her shoes by the door

"Ciao, amore! I'm making breakfast, you want some?" Carina asked with a sleepy smile

"No, thanks. I'll just have a shake. I'm jumping in the shower first" Maya faked a smile

That smile hid a mixture of emotion that she couldn't even start to list. If she had to guess the fist one would have been jealousy... It was kind of unknown for Maya. She had never loved anyone before Carina and so jealousy wasn't really necessary. But now, she felt a fire burning in her chest. She needed to run. Instead of showering she changed into her running clothes and went back to the kitchen.

"I'm going for a run" Maya said quite detached

"are you ok, Maya? It's pouring outside and you just finished a 24 hours shift" Carina said pretty concerned moving in front of her girlfriend and putting a hand on her waist

"I won't be long, I promise. I just need it"

"ok, can I at least have a kiss before you leave me here all alone in this big apartment?" Carina asked pouting a little. At those words Maya kissed her hard. That kiss seemed to scream "you're just mine. No one else has the right to kiss you!" and for Maya that was the boost of confidence she needed to put out the fire in her chest.

She ran, mile after mile, when an hour and a half later she decided to head home. She found Carina in the bathroom drying her hair in her robe. Maya approached from behind, opened the robe and uncovered her lover's shoulder. She put little sweaty kisses on the bare skin and Carina closed her eyes and bit her bottom lip. Then she moved away and faced Maya.

"Nonono, not going to happen. You, shower, now. You're all sweaty." She ordered with a smirk.

Maya started taking off all of her clothes and throwing them at Carina who couldn't believe how childish Maya was behaving.

Maya was done with her shower and Carina handed her the towel.

"let me put that lotion on your back" Maya volunteered

"thank you, love" said carina handing her the bottle

"God, you're always so soft. I love touching your skin." Maya whispered in her ear, her breath hitching on Carina's neck

"Babe, don't start what you can't finish" Car said breathing heavily

"ok, ok. I'm sorry. I just missed you, that's all" Maya said leaving a sweet kiss on her cheek

"if you missed me so much, why did you go for your run?" Carina raised her eyebrow

"oh, c'mon. you know I need to ran, I can't help it. It relaxes me" Maya replied trying not to pick up a fight

"what are you so nervous about?" Maya didn't answer but looked at Carina. Carina laughed because she knew Maya was nervous about Laura coming for a visit. Maya looked confused.

"bella, you have nothing to worry about. I promise"

They finished getting ready, then Carina made something to eat for lunch and around three in the afternoon the doorbell rang. Maya put on her mask and opened the door. Laura stormed inside leaving the umbrella fall on the floor and running to hug Carina. The fire in Maya's chest started burning again. Maya picked up the umbrella and watched the two women hugging. That was tight... very tight. 'ok Maya, keep a straight face. Act normal' she told herself
