"So... is this it?" she glanced at himas he pulled the car over along her driveway. His eyes were soft, but the rest of his body was stiff and firm, just like his voice. “Yes.” He answered without looking at her.

He just sat there, staring ahead. The silence is deafening her and it demands her to leave. She looked down as she clasped and unclasped her hands, she sighed of resignation. Once again, she took one last look before she reached for the door to open it. As she stepped out, she held to the door before it shut.

You know,” she began, then as if thinking twice, met his eyes and shrugged. “Nevermind. You don’t.”

A melancholic smile gloomed across her face as she shut the door and walked up the stairs that leads to her home. The clouds above were dark and thunder is waiting to strike. He watched her leave, never taking his eyes off her as she slowly blur in his vision as the rain started to out-pour.

Her words stung more than he thought. All she’d been saying all throughout the drive was how life could go on, how they could go on. But he just ignored it. How could they pretend? They needed to move on – separately.

But as the rain pelted against the windshield, as he tried to grasp the meaning of those words, it hit him. He finally understood. He shoved the door open, and quickly ran after her. In the darkness, she was hardly visible in the heavy rain. Finally catching up to her, he enveloped her in his arms then whirled her around. Before she could utter a word out, he whispered, “I do know,” and pressed his lips to hers. She attempted to protest. But then succumbed to his lips, to his arms embracing her, and to the desire of getting through this crazy life in the only way they could – together
