Alex, North, and Rose were now in the woods, just walking and talking.

"I want to climb that tree," Alex said, pointing at a big tree. "I'm gonna climb it." He then ran over to the tree, hopped up, grabbed a branch, pulled himself up, and started his climb.

"Be careful," Rose said.

Now sitting high up in the tree, Alex saw something in the distance. "Hey, Rose, North," he called down to his cousins.

"Yeah?" North yelled up in response.

"I see something in the distance. I think it's a door?" Alex said, climbing down. "Let's go check it out."

The three of them ran over to where Alex saw the door. And there it was the mystery, black wood door with the faces and arms carved into it.

"Ooo, weird."

"One of my teachers, Mrs. Jamason, talked about this door. It's been here since the town was reopened and no one knows where it came from," North said.

"Oh, yeah," Rose said. "I remember learning that last year when I was in her class."

"Does it open?" Alex asked.

"No one's been able to, no."

"Wanna try to open it? I want to try to open it."

"You can try."

Alex grabbed the doorknob and twisted. He pulled on the door, it didn't open, so he gave it another tug, and... it opened.
