"What is it?" Lily asked with concern.

Severus didn't answer. He was too busy clutching his teeth in hopes to prevent a scream from escaping. Lily noticed his eyes filled with agony and horror. Also, something strange glinted in them. He looked at her and his face showed sudden realization.

"You have to move in with me," he whispered.

"What?"

She didn't like the seriousness in his eyes at all.

"You have to move in with me," he insisted. "Now. They need to see that you are my slave, otherwise we could both be dead. If they ever find out I saved a muggleborn's life... " He shook his head. "They need to see you suffer," he added.

Lily's green eyes filled with horror, too. "Well," she started slowly, voice full of doubt. "Since my house got burnt to the ground, I guess I could live with you..."

As soon as she finished the sentence, a picture of her living at Spinner's End flashed before her eyes. It was rather a filthy street with lots of different people on it. She didn't like the idea of living there at all.

Severus sighed. "I know it's not the best address in the world."

He was panting now, still clutching his forearm. The pain was getting worse, so he quickly drew a key out of his pocket and gave it to her.

"You know the address," he whispered. "Get there. Now."

He was about to get up but Lily caught him by his pyjamas. He looked back at her. "Let me go."

"You're still very weak. Apparition is a dangerous thing to do in this state," she told him in a low voice.

"I don't have a choice."

She nodded. "Just... Be careful."

"I am."
