Hello!
Welcome to what I hope will be a long and fulfilling story of fantasy and 2 not so straight men.
The first chapter will be some basic background and resources so you can dive into the universe of Eragon headfirst (if you've read the series, hi! We are few and far between). This setting has everything, I'm talking dragons and elves, dwarves and magic, and a healthy dose of scenery. I mostly picked it because I recently re-read the series and though a jaunty DNF fic would fit strangely well, and the concept of the riders will allow for lots of DreamSMP character cameos!
You don't have to have read Eragon to enjoy this, I just wanted to enrich the plot and give some interest to the DNF dynamic:))

There will likely be smut in this story. It will likely have BDSM dynamics. The dragons will absolutely NOT be involved. Please do not read those parts if you are under 18, I will tag and warn accordingly. The rest of the story I will warn at 16+.

This work is set in the Eragon Universe! That being said, here is some background in case you haven't read it (totally fine, but it is an awesome series. The movie is less good but hey if you want to watch it feel free):

This universe is set in a world called Alagaesia, which is quite LOTR in its species and lifestyle. The known sentient races are humans, elves, dwarves, Urgals, werecats, and dragons. The common dialect is assumed to be English, but there is also Ugralgra and Dwarvish. I will also frequently refer to the Ancient language, as it is used by the elves and when using magic (and therefore is extremely common amongst the Riders). It is impossible to lie in the Ancient Language, and every being has a true name in the Ancient Language, which is difficult to discover and yields unique power over the person it belongs to.

(Fun fact, the title of this work means "Dream Stare", which is a scrying spell, but I liked bc the reference to Dream)

The Wiki explains Dragon riders much better than I could :
"The Riders were created because treaties between the two races would prove useless to stop fighting: a signed piece of paper meant nothing to a dragon. So, an irrevocable bond was wrought by the Elves and the dragons: the Elves provided the structure of the spell and the dragons provided the strength, thus creating the Dragon Riders. When a fleet of Humans sailed across the sea thousands of years later, they too were added to the elite order of the Dragon Riders. The role of the Riders became more than uniting the Elves and Dragons: they became keepers of the peace throughout the land of Alagaësia and were respected and honored by the people they served. After the end of the Rider War, Urgals and Dwarves were also admitted. There were both male and female Riders,[1] all of whom were immortal and were able to use Magic. The Riders not only were peacekeepers, they were healers, scholars and the strongest magicians throughout the land besides Shades (though the Riders did not promote this fact)."

To make a long series short, Eragon and Saphira were the first of the new riders after the malicious King Galbatorix betrayed the Riders and slaughtered the old order, including most all dragons. Elf Arya was a close friend and romantic interest of Eragon, and eventually became a rider herself. Eragon and Saphira defeated the king with the help of many others, and chose to leave the mainland of Alagaesia to raise the next generation of riders of all races, where we find them now.

That's the briefest summary I could manage- again, please don't let it dissuade you from reading! It's all very complex and interesting, but we will mostly stick to the characters themselves.
