I made myself comfortable on the armchair as I waited for Chichi to do the same. It was time for us to inform our parents that we had arrived safely.

I had changed into a little blue night gown while Chichi had changed into dark shorts and white singlets.

I watched her as she finally sat beside me, folded her legs on the chair and brought out her phone.

"We're calling my dad first," she informed me and I nodded in agreement.

I silently waited as she tapped her screen and raised my brows in anticipation, when I heard the other line ringing.

"Hey sweetheart, I was wondering when you'd finally call," his soothing fatherly voice answered from the other end of the line.

"We were just trying to tidy up things before calling," she said. She threw a glance at me and smiled.

"Well, the most important thing is that you arrived safely."

"Yes, We're safe daddy, there's nothing to worry about. Remember, Rebecca is here with me," she assured him.

She always spoke fluent English with her father, unlike with other people. She also seemed less crazy around her dad.

"Rebecca is there with you. I almost forgot. Can you give her the phone please? I'd like to hear her voice as well."

"Sure Dad, it's for you", she said to me. She didn't have to hand me her phone since it had been on loudspeaker the whole time.

"Hello Sir," I began.

"Rebecca dear, how are you?"

"I'm fine sir."

"I'm happy to know that Chichi is with you. You know how she can get a little rough and crazy sometimes, I trust you'll keep her in check?" He asked.

Chichi gasped in disbelief. "Mr Moses Igwe! Do you realise I'm still here and listening to the conversation?"

"Oh!" He broke into laughter as he had been caught. "You weren't supposed to hear that but you know I'm not wrong. Rebecca is a good influence on you."

If only he knew that I wasn't any better.

"For where? Becky ke? Good influence?" She exclaimed.

Both her dad and I broke into laughter. "We both know I'm a better influence, Chichi," I said to her.

"You two are too much. Okay I have to go. I have a patient to attend to. Don't forget your hygiene girls," he advised.

"Yes Doctor!" We both said in unison and laughed afterwards.

"Bye babies," he said.

"Bye Daddy," we both answered before the line went dead.

"Now it's time to call my mom, the wahala woman," I announced before sighing.

"My sure babe," Chichi said while grinning widely.

I picked my phone from where I had dropped it on the table and dialed my mom's number. It rang for some seconds before she finally picked.

"Becky my baby", she began. Something hit the ground from her end of the line. The sound it made was so familiar.

Eyeshadow Palette!

"Mom? Where are you going? It's already getting late," I interrogated her.

"Wetin concern you there? I no fit comot again?" Was her sharp reply.

"Mommy, it's already past eight. Who are you going out with?"
