I tossed and turned in my bed. The heat must have woken me. I couldn't seem to get back to sleep no matter how hard I tried. So I gave up and decided to get some water in the kitchen. Maybe if I drank water, I'd get some sleep.
I switched on the little torch on my neck and got off the bed. My satin bonnet had fallen off my head, while my nightgown stuck to my moist body. I used the torch to retrieve the fallen bonnet from the ground and put it back on. Then I started the trip to the kitchen.
Chichi's room was opposite mine and the door was wide open, as always. I peered in and saw that she was fast asleep on her bed. The heat didn't seem to get to her.
I continued down the corridor to the door by the left, the one opposite was the door leading into the parlor. I finally entered the kitchen. The fridge was the first thing by the right, while the sink and stoves where at the other end.
I opened the fridge door. The many drinks and bottled water had reduced. We had Hero to thank for filling the fridge up with all the necessities. As much as didn't want to admit it, Hero was really a sure guy.
I collected the bottled water from the fridge, uncovered it and took a large gulp of water. I enjoyed the satisfaction that enveloped me as the cool liquid went down my throat.
Suddenly, I felt a cold chill run down my spine. Goosebumps scattered around my skin and I felt the hair at the back of my neck stand.
Something's wrong!
Then I heard it.
The all too familiar sound.
The scratching sound against wood.
I stopped drinking immediately and whipped my head around. My body tensed up but I didn't see anything.
I should probably go back to bed.
The moment I closed the fridge door, his appearance exploded before my vision. Those same glistening crimson orbs.
"Aaaaaaah!" I screamed in shock and fell on my rump. The bottle I was holding had long been released from my grip.
Suddenly, warm hands gripped my shoulder from the back while I was still staring at my prosecutor. I was about to scream when I saw who it was.
"I heard you scream! What happened?" Chichi asked worried. Since I had my back faced to the entrance, I hadn't noticed her come in.
I stared from her to the monster standing before me. My lips trembled in fear. My mouth had gone dry and I couldn't muster the courage to speak. Chichi followed my gaze and looked before us, then looked back at me puzzled.
"He— he's. . . he's r-right there!" I stuttered as I pointed a shaky finger at him.
She lifted her head towards the direction. She moved her head from side to side.
"Where? There's no one there!" She cried in confusion.
I widened my eyes in shock.
"He's s—standing ri—right there! How can you n—not see him?" At this point, I was crying like a child.
"I don't see anyone!" She complained and joined in my cries.
"Help me! Help me. . .free. . . free! Free!" It screamed in an hoarse voice!
"Leave me alone! Go away!" I screamed back as I clinged on to Chichi.
"HEEEEEEEEEEELP MEEEEEEEE!" It screamed in an high pitched voice.
