If you desert, you are a traitor. If you defect, you are a traitor. If you are a traitor, you have gone against everything you know how to be loyal to only to find out that you're haunted at the end. I'd have to think the degree of haunting would solely be determined by the level of betrayal felt by the betrayer. Guilty conscious perhaps? Whatever the case maybe, this goes right along with what was said last chapter about "fraternal allegiances" and their threat to a common good. Wrong is wrong. Right is right. If there is any wiggle room it shouldn't feel right and therefore should result in a decision being made that exemplifies your stance. I know there are those of you that would ask who I am to determine what's right or wrong, who made me Boss? Look, I am in no way penning these words as decree , Law or a framework for how you should manage your life and integrity. This is not Divinely Ordained and I am not a man of the cloth. Or, maybe this is Divinely Ordained. Not of the Cloth, but of the Fabric. Fabric, as in the Fabric of Life. There is nothing as awe inspiring than to look out and see nothing and see it all at the same time. If you haven't had that experience yet, sit down and figure out how YOU would. All that leads US right back to where we started...Loyalty. If everyone acted for the Flag the way they act about the flag, we would socially be better off by far. I'll let that sink in while you wrap your brain around it. 2020 was a perfectly imperfect year just like the rest. So perfectly imperfect in fact that it lead to a Global realization of "the line in the sand" and where any of us stood. From coworkers and distant relatives to children and parents finding themselves looking back at each other on opposite sides of a single line was surely a recurring theme. It's not so much thinking differently or having a difference in ideas or views, but how to manage these differences is key. Naturally, people disagree. It's part of who and what we are, but I never understood how loyalties can run deep enough to the point of blatant disregard for people, places and things. I personally believe that it's an issue with testicular fortitude. Simply Put, there are no Jewels in it.
