asta x nero 🪐 pt 1. (w&s)

❖ this is a somewhat underrated ship, so i'm glad it was requested :) they feel more like siblings, or very good friends, but i wouldn't mind them becoming a couple. please enjoy, and thank you for the support! 💛

✥ After training in the Heart Kingdom... ✥

Nero decided to accompany Asta in her human form to search for magic items that could help their comrades grow stronger. They found magic items scattered here and there, in a dungeon, in a shop in the royal capital, and in a location that even seemed abandoned. The two were headed back to the Heart Kingdom, delighted at their find: a magic item that can boost magical power, one that could support mana reserves and another that, when activated, could store mana in, and upon reactivation, the user would be able to take in all of the mana stored, acting as a mana boost. Asta insisted on carrying all of the magic items, but Nero was stubborn, "Asta, let me carry something! Muscle brained idiot.." Asta handed an item to Nero, "I want to take all of the burden off of you! You've always been by my side, so this is the least I can do!"

Nero blushed a bit with a pout, turning to face Asta while walking by his side, "Why are you bringing that up now?" Asta grinned wide enough to fit an orange slice in his mouth, "What do you mean?" Nero pinched Asta's cheek, causing him to wince in pain, "That was so random! and embarrassing!" Asta just laughed, reaching up to take Nero's hand off of his face. That wasn't needed because Nero released her grip on him, swiftly dropping her hand back to her side. He threw a sideglance at her, wondering why her ki was all out of whack. He usually had the ability to easily read someones emotions, and intentions, but that was not the case this time. The rest of the way back was mostly silent as they made it into the Heart Kingdom.

✧ In the temple where the All-Knowing Priestess resides... ✧

Nero and Asta handed off the magic items to Gaja, who in turn left to store the relics someplace safe. Loropechka turned to Asta, bowing her head down slightly from her throne, "Thank you again, Asta. You have done so much for us and for your friends in the short amount of time we've known you. Continue to do great things!" Asta stepped forward with his arms out flailing, "No, everyone has played a big role in this! I appreciate the thanks, but I believe the others deserve high praise, as well!", before finishing, he took Nero by the arm and gently shoved her in between him and the Heart Queen. Nero twirled around and grabbed onto Asta's ear. He yelped, grabbing onto Nero's hands to ease the squeeze on his ear. She smiled, watching him squirm in pain as she thought to herself, "You're the catalyst of it all, meathead. The reason everyone has this much resolve." Finral poked his head through a portal from behind the two, "Hey, you two! Yami needs you to take care of his pets while everyone is out training. It'll be a day only, so come and take a rest from the Heart Kingdom with me!" Asta and Nero glanced at each other, and back at Finral. Nero gave a slight nod, taking Asta's arm in hers as she pulled him along, Loropechka watching them go.

✮ In the Black Bulls hideout! ✮

Finral dropped them off, dipping back into the portal. "Finral-senpai, where are you headed off to?", Asta held Nero's hand in his subconsciously, their fingers intertwined. Finral noticed it, but paid it little mind as he was in a hurry to get back to Smurik. "I'll be back, Asta-kun, just make sure Yami-san's pets are fed and tended to!" Asta nodded and held up a fist of determination. "I'll give it my all!", "Well, it's not that serious." Finral laughed as he saluted, the portal closing up behind him. Nero stared at Asta intently, waiting for him to take the lead. He scratched the back of his head and chuckled lightly, "I guess we should go check up on Captain Yami's pets!" Nero followed close behind Asta, maintaining a tight grip on his tee. As they turned the corner, they neared Yami's pets. Asta approached the bucket in front of the cage, and tossed a few pieces of meat to each beast. Nero gazed at him from the side admiringly. In her head, her thoughts seemed to be in a jumble, "He's similar to the Prince, due to their pure intentions and good will, but something is throwing me off about him.. I don't know what this feeling is."
