(based on how I'm feeling right now so bear with me for any updates and so forth)

you were zoning out, the feelings inside your heart overwhelming you're mind meaning you could never focus on anything fully. you had been zoned out and in your mind so deeply that you didn't notice your roommate coming home and calling out that he had brought some take away home with him.

you were brought back to the current situation by him lightly shaking you with a soft smile on his face "Hey...you okay?" he asked in a soft voice as he rubbed your shoulder gently. you're eyes slowly teared up at the small act of kindness as you just launched yourself onto him in a tight hug and then you started to cry.

cry. cry. cry. cry. cry. that's all you could do at that moment, just cry. he stayed with you and held you, comforting you and listening to you, wiping your tears and giving gentle kisses on your forehead to help soothe you. "love..." he eventually said and you looked up at him "I'm here. yes, losing people is hard and I'm so so sorry about it, I am. but I'm here, for you. I'll support you for as long as you need me to-" and that shocked you.

as roommates, you weren't close. you knew a little about him but not enough to call him a close friend and he must have caught the odd look in your eyes as he chucked a little and spoke some more "I know I know I know, but I mean it. I've been silently here for you the whole time" he confessed and that made you smile, he made you smile.

you then spent the rest of the evening with him, you both built a fort in the living room, watched Netflix and ate many tubs of ice cream and sweets and popcorn. this was the best comfort you had had in a while and it helped with the pain you had long forgotten due to him.
