Numb

The Dome

After the meeting in the dome was over the woman had offered to show Code around, usually the hunters would do it but since the woman sent Charles away and he was not yet back she decided she would do it.

Intrigued by this woman and the place he was in he wanted to ask so many questions! She was walking slightly ahead of him and he went to grab her attention but realised he didn't know what to call her.

'What's your name?' he half shouted at her not realising the tunnels echo.

she paused and slowly turned her head a genuine little smile grew on her face as if she loved being asked this question.

'I'm called Aya but you call me sergeant' she paused waiting for a response. 'got it?'

Code quickly nodded.

She gave him an odd glance before walking off and Code followed.

'how come you're the only female sergeant' code asked

'I'm the only sergeant, Sam the one in the bullet vest is the lieutenant, he's higher up than me, the others are all hunters, numbs or foxes apart from the captain of course'

she continued 'I worked my way up from being a numb to a sergeant, I've never been to any other foxholes, i came here first and was getting on a little too well so I carried on here, i guess nobody else female did'.

Code didn't know what to say after she shrugged so he just kept following.

They walk threw more tunnels which still looked like massive sewer drains only it didn't smell like it it was just the layout of the foxhole, it was like a sewage system.

They got to the end of a tunnel where a bunch of empty beds were, they were plain with metal bars, a blanket, a mattress and one slightly deflated pillow on each.

She pointed into the room 'This is where you will sleep' Aya waited for a reply her face was as if she was waiting for an argument to occur

'okay' code said, it was probably better than the crooked bed he was sleeping back on in his old cabin anyway, these looked much more comfy.

Aya turned round to him in confusion to his response. She was expecting a complaint like she normally got from all newbies because compared to the other foxholes these were the worst. Her face then changed to a shocked one.

'You're a numb aren't you' she said confused but intrigued

He nodded.

'But you look quite old, how old are you?'

'22' he replied

'And you're still a numb?' she said shocked

Code shrugged a little embarrassed

'so you've waited all this time and you chose aggression first?' she laughed a little

(A/N - if you haven't ready the description there are 6 foxholes, Empathy, Fear, Adoration, Serenity, Euphoria and most importantly Aggression.)

'That's brave' she admitted still laughing a little to herself

she started to walk off

'or really stupid' she continued a little quieter, but loud enough for code to hear 

Code had to jog to catch up a little offended

'Hey you came here first too' he said in defence

she glanced over her shoulder amused at him

'Yeah' she stopped and turned round

'But you're not me' she said still amused by him.

They walked back to the dome after she had showed him around everything and she told him to wait there.

He watched as she walked off disappearing down one of the larger tunnels.

He looked around the dome to see people fighting on top of the squared podiums. A few of them looked bruised and battered a few were very sweaty. He looked around until his eyes landed on quite a petite girl around the age of 18 who was getting beaten up by a man almost twice her size, he watched as she slid down off of the podium hanging her head between her knees.

He quickly ran over to her lifting her head up with his finger tips.

'are you alright' he asked

she slightly nodded as she breathed out and when she did a little bit of blood dripped through.

Scared by this Code stood up and and looked around for anyone to help, no one was taking any notice so he started shouting,

'Help, Help'

no one was listening so he continued

'Help, Help'

'HELP'

At that last one majority if the dome turned round and stared at him, he was about to ask if anyone could help her before two large boots came round the corner, he was a hunter, a big one not the biggest but he was still very large and scary.

'What 'appens to be the problem 'ere then' he groaned

'She's hurt, can you help' code said worryingly

'Can i 'elp, CAN I 'ELP',

He started laughing at code he pointed a finger at him

'Why der yer care boy' the hunter said

'Because she's hurt if she doesn't get help she'll die'

the man found this even more amusing he started cackling by this point most of the room was laughing with him.

'Naw 're yer in love'

Code looked at  him confused and shook his head trying to explain that he was just trying to help.

'nawww that so cute, yer know Miss Aya shouldnt call yer broken boy she should start calling yer lover boy instead' He continued laughing loudly along with the other before he was interrupted by a voice.

'You know as much as i hate everything that comes out of you're mouth Phillip i actually quite like that one' Aya chuckled as she entered back in the room, the dome now completely silent.

'Thankyer Miss Aya' he grinned childishly a little startled now that she has entered the room.

She looked at him 'It's sergeant not Miss Aya, now take the girl to the infirmary' he nodded as he picked up the girl ducking his head almost as if bowing 'Yes sergeant'

Before he walked off Aya turned to him and asked 'Phillip, that nickname you came up with, mind if i borrow it' she smirked

'Not at all sergeant' he smiled proud of himself as he walked off.

Code looked at the conversation between the two knowing exactly what nickname they were on about.

He tried to complain 'But...uh'

She turned away from him 'Come on lover boy this way' she walked of quickly,

Before Code could say anything she had already walked away, all he could see was her turning back around with a big grin on her face.

He shook his head because she knew she was enjoying it, it made him grin, as he slowly stood up and followed her through a tunnel.
