~~~~~~~~~~~~~Day Eight~~~~~~~~~~
It was still raining when I managed to break the front door - just in time to hear the clock strike 4 a.m. Other than that, there was no sound at all ... only the rain, but I could hardly hear it. My ears were focused on waiting for any sound from Hideto ... but none came.
I started running through the house, but he was nowhere to be found ...
I kept running, until I was suddenly stopped by something on a door.
It was red ... staining parts of the door ...
dark red ...
... blood ...
I opened the door and my eyes widened at the sight before me: Hideto was lying on the floor, blood everywhere around him. His body covered with blood, and his chest torn open, revealing his lungs, while more blood was still flowing out of his huge wound.
I felt myself trembling at the sight, unable to move at first, but as I thought I had heard him cough, I rushed forward, giving myself to the frail hope he might still be alive.
Kneeling down in the blood around him I took his hand while staring into his pale, lifeless face. His eyes were closed, like he was just sleeping, but he wasn't moving ... he wasn't ... breathing ... how should he, when his lung had been torn open?
My imagination was playing tricks on me ... he wasn't alive anymore ... I was to late ... I failed ...
Shivering stronger, I moved forward to look at the wound. It was a neat wound, if one could say this. It looked like it had just been cut with a dagger or something and opened carefully ... Still it was a horrible sight, and I felt tears rushing down my cheeks, as I saw him lying there before me ... the lively young man who would always surprise me and be happy no matter what happened before ... Hideto had done so much for me, and now I would never be able to tell him ...
My hand wandered to the jewel I wore around my neck and touched it gently.
It was then, that I heard demonic voices behind me, laughing evilly at the sight of me, crying over my dead friend.
Suddenly I felt anger growing in my chest ...
He had done this ... he had killed him ... he took him away from me ...
I got up again, not even bothering about the tears that were still dropping to the ground and turned to face the shade, when I froze.
In his hand, he held something.
It was red and ...
it was moving ...
blood flowing from it and eventually in it ...
this was ...
"His heart", the shades voices explained, and for the first time I saw it actually had a mouth, and it was grinning at me.
"Why did you do this?!", I asked, more tears sliding down my cheeks as I stared at the shade and back to Hideto's frail and lifeless form ...
"He was about to give away what's mine"
I felt a slight stinging in my side. There were tears on my face, keeping my eyes closed, as I still cried, the image of the small, blood covered body still locked in my head. More tears welled up in my eyes, making their way down my face.
"Wake up! Please!", a familiar voice begged, and I identified the slight stinging as poking ...
Suddenly I realized that my body was lying on something soft, and something warm was by my side. Slowly I managed to open my eyes, although it was painful ...
