She Came Home to Us

I had woken up around 5 am and went on my morning run around the campus as I do now every morning since moving to the dorms. The sky was still dark with the sun just creeping along the cities breaking point of the ground. The air was misty as a single breeze flew by and it stopped me in my tracks, the air smelled sweet like the early days of summer, for some reason it made my knees weak almost as if my body was trying to prepare me for something. Shrugging it off I finished my morning and headed back to the dorms to shower so I could head to class.

The bell had rung for the first period and the day seemed to slow its self, the sun was shining brighter than usual and there was an empty sky. Not a cloud in sight, looking at it sent a chill down my spine, but the chill felt more like a memory rather than the ones that come and go when the weather starts to change this time of year. I glanced over my shoulder to see if anyone had the same type of chill or if it was just me who was having an odd feeling day. When I did that I noticed that green dork wasn't here yet. Must have been up all night, I would think with him being in the top five and the constant studying of quirks he would remember that overworking the body has the same effect as overworking a quirk. That idiot.

It was hard to focus once Mr. Aizawa began his lesson and even after he was interpreted by a call from Principal Nezu, something about a student who's going to be joining the class I let my mind wander, today was so slow and weird feeling I couldn't care less about my surroundings. I found myself so deep in thought I hadn't noticed when Deku walked in until he poked me and I half jumped back into my mind. I hate when he does that. He asked about what he had missed and before he could get another question in Aizawa had walked back into the room a small girl following so close behind him it was almost as if she was hiding. I couldn't see her face. Just her hands and lower half of her body were in my line of sight, even as he faced the class his frame blocked hers almost entirely. It made me perk up a bit, I couldn't care less about having a new classmate but the way she stood, the way she hid from view were too familiar. Another chill filled my frame and I glance over my shoulder again to see if I was the only one. Deku slid lazily down in his chair, he was almost as unamused as I was and I felt my chest release. Maybe I wasn't the only one after all. I followed his gaze and looked out the window as he did, half-listening half waiting for the day to end. That was until I heard the words pool out of his mouth. The name only mentioned anymore by my parents and Deku's mom on holidays. As a whisper forbidden to us for years now. "... it's your responsibility that she is caught up and well taken care of. From this day forward she is your newest class and teammate, Kaiako Amaji."

Kaiako. Aiko? My heart had sunk to my feet and I watched as the world slowed to a desperate stop. Aizawa seems to be moving so slow the anticipations make my bones ache. Once he's finally out of her way. In unison Deku and I are levitating from our seats faster than anything. In a reflex, I hadn't known I had, I reached for him. I wanted to know he was real, this wasn't a dream, she was actually here in front of us. I gripped his shirt but I couldn't turn to him. My eyes were glued to her. We were stuck like that for maybe a second but it dripped into reality as years looking at her, her looking back to us. Her kind and droopy eyes that we hadn't seen in what must have been a lifetime ago.

I couldn't think of anything to do, I whispered trying to ask Deku if this was a dream but all that could come out was "Fuck, Fuck. No fucking way."

"Kacchan" his tone a reflection of my own.

"No fucking way-"

"Kacchan, it's her."

"No Fucking way'

"Kacchan."

"No fuc-"

Finally, she spoke.

"Hi Boys." the sound of gargling honey pooled from her lips and we were launched. My hand still stuck to his shirt he placed his over mine and the world spun again. We leaped at her. She came home to us.
