Poem - Leftovers

30 3 5

Fuzzy cheese and green baloney

Several-week-old macaroni

Stale dried-out pizza crust

Wilted lettuce, gathering dust

Rotten fruit that smells like soil

Juice that makes your stomach roil

Rancid butter, rotten eggs

Bread growing everything but legs

Weeks of leftovers galore!

Unfinished odds and ends add more!

Food no longer fit to eat

Reeks of festering, putrid feet

How long have we let it sit?

What can we now do with it?

Scrape it off and drop it in

To the depths of the compost bin.
