(Lol, who's the dude in the bottom left, I wonder?)
Hello, dreamers!
We did it! Another draft done! Thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone who read, commented, and voted! Y'all really kept me going! I'm gonna go through and fix a whole bunch of things, this draft was kinda written on the fly and it's pretty messy right now lol. (Would you believe that Crow wasn't even created until after I was a few chapters deep into this draft?)
Anywho! Now that I have you, here are some questions I have for you all if you would be so kind:
-How did you discover The Dark Between Dreams?
-Were there any parts of the story that dragged or could stand to be omitted?
-Are there any aspects of the story that you need me to explain or clarify?
-Did you find any plot holes? (There's a lot!)
-Do you have any other questions you'd like me to answer?
-Who is your favorite character and why?
-Who is your least favorite character and why?
-Are there any scenes you feel could be added? Lore that could be explored?
-If you have any thoughts on the new draft please, please, PLEASE let me know!
Again, my wonderful readers, my deepest gratitude goes out to you! And if you read this far, then I hope you find a dollar on the ground today.
So. Now here comes the big question about this story and the world of After...
What comes next???
I have a spin-off prequel called Šamaš (pronounced "shamash") planned for ONC 2025 about Tamzi and Nannāru and how they met in the early days of Ah-hur. Check out the crazy-ass cover! ᐠ( ᐛ )ᐟ
But more importantly, I've got a sequel in the works starring our boy Webb and the shenanigans he gets up to after Skye and Vale journey into the Dim without him. He's all by his lonesome now. Does he linger in After forever? Will he uncover his lost memories? Does he ever remember what his full name is?Does he get himself a boyfriend? 👀
I'll never tell.
"Webb's a dead guy with no memory of his life, and that's how he likes it. He'd sworn he'd protect After, the city of the dead, from monsters, but the monsters have all been killed off. Now he has only one thing left to do: go through the Gate and find out what lies beyond it in the after-afterlife.
...Yeah, fuck that. Webb's not eager to move on. Especially not after a horrifying ghost named Void claws his way from beyond the Gate baring news that only Hell lies past it. Void sets about making all ghosts unable to pass through the Gate... by tearing out their hearts and enslaving them.
Seemingly the only ghost immune to Void, and with the afterlives of every ghost in the realm of the dead at stake, Webb journeys into the Dim to defeat Void, as well as another foe: the return of the long-buried memories of his past life."
