Once again, I sadly do not own any of these characters, they belong to the wonderful J.K Rowling. Enjoy and comment! :)

Ron looked across at his wife, sleeping beside him, her mouth hanging open slightly and her bushy hair splayed out over the pillow.

He still could not believe that he had got so lucky, and that Hermione Granger, now Weasley, actually loved him back. He had never thought she looked more beautiful than she did now, especially with her hand resting on her huge baby bump, perfecting the picture.

Ron was so excited that they were going to have a baby, but also he was nervous as heck. Hermione kept saying that everything was going to be alright, and that he would make a great father, but Ron was scared.

His best friend, Harry Potter, had married his sister, Ginny, almost three years ago now, and Ginny was now 3 months pregnant with their second child. Hermione was 9 months in now and is due any day.

Harry kept reassuring Ron, telling him that being a dad was the best feeling in the world, and he had believed him, until last week when Hermione had had a false call and they thought the baby was going to come then, and Ron had never been more frightened. That was why he was awake now, because he was watching over her and his baby, making sure that if anything did happen, he was there to take care of them, like he always would be, no matter what.

And thats when it happened.

Hermione shot bolt upright and gave a little yelp, signifying it was time, then looked over at Ron, expecting to have to wake him up, but he was already on the other side of the bed, helping Hermione get up and helping her stand. He helped her get changed, as she was finding it difficult, having to stop every few minutes for her to steady her breathing and lean on him whilst the pain subsides slightly.

Ron quickly got dressed himself and grabbed the bag they had already set up, slowly led Hermione to the fire place, and she flooed herself to St. Mungo's, as planned, with Ron following.

--------At the Hospital --------

Once they were at the hospital, Ron sent a patronus to all of the Weasley's, Potters and Mr and Mrs. Granger to let them know it was time, even though the Grangers were muggles, there was no time to send a letter. Hermione was taken into a room, with Ron taking up the rear.

He was scared silly, and it didn't help that Hermione kept yelping and scrunching up her face in pain, making Ron so worried. All he wanted to do was wrap her up in his arms and hold her, soothe her, take the pain away, even though he knew he couldn't. And he hated feeling so helpless.

Harry had explained to him what it is like, but nothing could have prepared him for watching Hermione go through that. Mrs. Granger came in shortly after they had settled, as Hermione had wanted her there for the birth. She told him that everyone was there in the waiting room, but they would have to wait. Nothing was going to make him leave Hermione's side. Nothing.

With Ron holding one hand, and Mrs. Granger holding the other, Hermione endured 7 hours of labour. Every screech, every whimper, made Ron wince, but all he did was murmur encouragements and hold her hand, rub her back and wipe her forehead. Ron knew it was agonising, and he was so proud of her, because not at one point did she say "I can't" or anything, but she gritted her teeth and carried on. And then, with one last push, their baby was born.

Hermione started crying again when the healer held her up. "It's a girl!" she exclaimed, and Mrs. Granger started crying too. But it wasn't until the baby girl got wrapped in pink blankets and laid in her mothers arms did Ron cry, and it was upon seeing the little face, a mix of Ron and Hermione, that did it. He reached over and kissed Hermione on the forehead. "Well done, love" he said gently.

"What shall we name her?" asked Hermione softly. She must have been so exhausted, but he knew she had been determined to stay awake to hold her baby for the first time.

"Rose" was all Ron said as he looked at his little girl. "Our little Rose".
Hermione looked up and kissed Ron softly, as though to finalise it. "Our little Rose" she whispered, looking down at the Angel in her arms.
