I woke up, yawned and climbed out of bed. I put on my slippers and grabbing my phone I walked downstairs. I kissed my mom on the cheek as I passed by and she smiled. Then, I walked over to the cupboards, grabbed a bowl and spoon and set them on the table. I grabbed the large box of Cheerios and the Fat Free Skim Milk from the refrigerator and sat down to eat. After I had eaten and put away the milk and cereal and put my dishes in the sink, my phone buzzed in my pocket. I jumped, because the vibration had scared me.
I ran back upstairs and sat in my desk chair, opening my laptop. I logged into my account and saw that someone had left me a message. It was Latisha. I smiled and clicked on the notification. The message read:
Hey, Juanita:) You seem like a really cool person and I want to get to know you more, in a more involved way. Maybe we can talk on the phone later and we can have a proper introduction for each other. Until then, xoxo -Latisha

My hands shook anxiously and my stomach was filled with butterflies. What if she didn't like my voice or what if she didn't like me? What if she doesn't like me for who I am? I turned my Kenny G music on on my iPod to calm myself. "Ok, think , Juanita, think, do you call her or not?", I mumbled to myself. After many minutes of silent consideration of the matter, I decided to get up my courage and do it. I texted her. Is it ok if I call you now or is now a bad time? I waited and waited, pacing around my room, until finally half an hour later, she replied. Anxiously, I picked up my phone and read the message. Exhaling, I grinned, looking at the bold black message that stood out against the bright screen. Of course you can:)

20 minutes later, when I had gone to the bathroom, brushed my teeth, put on fresh clothes and made sure I was ready, I finally picked up my phone, clicked on her name, and made the call.
