A few days later, I woke up,got dressed and did my normal morning things and then ran back into my bedroom. It had been a few days since i had met Latisha and I had spoken to her every day since. I grabbed my phone off of the bedside table and texted a quick greeting to Latisha. I walked over to my desk and opened my laptop. I grabbed my backpack and got out my homework. About twenty minutes later, I had finished my work and was on my computer checking my email. "Still no reply from Latisha....maybe she's just busy..." I thought to myself as I skimmed over the recent messages in my inbox. Most of them were from websites I had joined or from teachers, nothing interesting. I shut my laptop and put all of my books away. I went downstairs and ate some lunch and then ran for awhile on the treadmill in our living room, to get some exercise to work off the large i had eaten. Then, I decided to go for a walk, and get some fresh air. I'd needed it, and it was the perfect day to, as there was a fair in town and I'd always wanted to go to one. Maybe later, I thought, and went outside.
I gasped, the brisk, cold air surprising me. I thought it would be a bit less chilly since Spring would soon begin. I walked up the gravelly path that lay at the edge of the driveway and continued walking until I finally arrived at my destination. The Riverbed. It was a small park with a cute little pavilion and fluffy grass that lined the brook. I stepped out of my sandals and dipped my cold feet into the running water. The clouds hid the sun and the sky was a nice blue, but the day was still slightly boring and I was stressed and tired. I closed my eyes, letting the sound of the swirling water lull me into a relaxed state. I stayed in the park until I felt a bit better and when it was time to leave, I grabbed my shoes, slipped them on and began the long walk back home.
Once I got home, I opened the door to see my mom working at the table in our small kitchen. She was surrounded by papers and bills and she looked exhausted. Bags hung under her eyes and her hair looked ragged. I knew she hadn't slept in a few days. Since, the management team at her workplace had been replaced and rearranged, her workload had slowly increased until it was almost too much stress for my mom to handle. I walked over to her and placed a gentle kiss on the top of her head. "How's it going? Would you like some tea or something?" She raised her head and gave me a small smile. "That would be lovely, thank you. I'm sorry I haven't been very talkative towards you lately. It's just that I'm so busy and I'm drowning in bills and I-" I interrupted her, as I could sense that she was working herself up. "Hey, Mom, it's okay. I promise you. I get it. And I really appreciate what you've been doing." I murmured and kissed her temple before getting her tea ready. I then gave it to her, kissed her once again, and made my way up to my room. And frowned, looking around. Ugh what a mess. I picked up for a little bit, and did other things around the house ,to help my mom and to distract myself from the fact that Latisha still hadn't answered me.
A few hours later, I lay down on my bed, whooped. I grabbed my phone off my desk and scrolled through social media for a little bit, wasting time, and eventually I fell asleep, my thoughts drifting into dreams.
