Chills ran down my spine as I heard her beautiful voice for the first time. It was the most wonderful sound I'd ever heard. The silence seemed to worry her though and she asked if I was alright. I said yes but it came out as a small squeak. I blushed with embarrassment. When I got out of my daze, I finally got up the courage to speak. I closed my eyes. Here goes nothing, I thought.
Juanita: Hey.
Latisha: Hi, how are you?
Juanita: I'm um ok I guess? It's nice to be able to talk to you over the phone.
Latisha: Yeah, I feel the same way.
Juanita: So....
Latisha: Hey, don't be nervous, ok? I don't bite....ok well maybe just a little.
She laughed which made the butterflies in my stomach flurry around even more.
Latisha: I'm kidding, I'm kidding, what are you so afraid of, darling?
Juanita: I'm sorry, I just-I don't know what to say...
Latisha: Don't apologize, Juanita. It's ok. I just want to know more about you, so there's no need to be nervous. How about start with your name, where you live, things like that.
Juanita: O-ok. Um my full name is Juanita Johanna Lucia Guadalupe Santana Gracia Granola Ramirez. And I live in San Francisco, California.
Latisha:.....That's a long name you've for there, chica. Can you say it five times fast? Sorry, sorry Im just teasing you, hon. So...as you know I live in New Mexico, in San Jose, and my full name is Latisha Francesca Rivera.
Juanita: That's a beautiful name...
Latisha: Thank you, yours is quite nice as well.
Juanita: So......what's your favorite color? Mine's turquoise, like the ocean.
Latisha: Um......I'm not sure...probably purple...like an eggplant.
Juanita: Cool....
Latisha: Si.
Juanita: I have to go...but maybe we can talk again soon?
Latisha: That would be lovely.
Juanita: Thank you for talking with me, this was amazing.
Latisha: It was my pleasure, it's been fun and I can't wait to dig deeper into who you are.
Juanita: We can keep texting though if you want...
Latisha: That would be bueno, my dear.
Juanita: Alright, well bye.
Latisha: Bye.
I hung up the phone and bit my lip. That was so much fun and she seems absolutely amazing. I can't wait to talk to her again....I hope she liked me. I got my homework out of my bag and started studying for the end of year exams. This would be a wild ride....
