Taehyun wouldn't admit that he was partially upset they were leaving. He ended up adoring the six boys with his heart, but they all knew the time would come where they had to leave.
"Well, here's the walkie-talkie," Xion said, handing it to Soobin. "Let us know if you ever need anything. We'll still be here."
Soobin nodded and hugged him. They all hugged each other and Minjeong glared at Taehyun who handcuffed himself to her again.
"I'm not gonna run away."
"I don't believe you. Come on." She followed him out and they were followed by the other four.
"So where are we going?" Kai asked as they started walking down the road.
"There's another small town about ten miles down the road. You think you can make it in those shoes?" Taehyun asked, groaning when Minjeong flicked his forehead.
"She can," Beomgyu said, quickly walking up and interlocking his arm with Taehyun's other one. "Who wants to play a game? I-" he was cut off by the sound of something flying above them and took out his bow and lighter.
"You got this one?" Taehyun asked, to which Beomgyu nodded and shot it when he saw it through the trees.
They all watched it fall, eyes widening at the size of it.
It looked way bigger than all the flight monsters they had seen before. About three times the size to be exact.
"Holy shit," Yeonjun said, walking over and looking down at it. "Yeah, I- we should've stayed in the bunker." He turned around to start walking back but Soobin stopped him. "Stop. I need to go back. And so do you. I'm not about to have you or Kai get killed."
"Yeonjun, we're fine," Taehyun said. "Beomgyu and I are skilled fighters. And I know you three learned a thing or two while we were with the group. Come on. We can make it there in less than four hours and we'll be safe."
Yeonjun sighed and nodded, walking over to grab onto Beomgyu's arm for safety.
As they were walking, multiple of them complained about their feet while some of them liked the exercise. And Taehyun had to carry a very "tired" Beomgyu on his back, although the boy was just giggling and kicking his legs the entire time.
"Taehyun, your turn. Truth or dare," Minjeong said.
"Dare."
"I dare you to uncuff me."
He rolled his eyes and did, making her sigh in relief. "I can run faster than you by the way, so I recommend thinking before you run away."
She nodded and looked around at the forest. "How much longer?"
"A little bit. Only a mile left, so we should be there in twenty minutes or so."
And they did get there in twenty minutes. It looked like more of a ghost town than the other ones they went to and Beomgyu climbed off Taehyun's back to instead hold onto his arm in fear.
"Taehyun, should we split up to look for supplies?" Soobin asked.
"Yeah," Taehyun nodded as Soobin, Yeonjun, Kai, and Carmen all walked down an alley. "They'll be fine. Come on."
Beomgyu and Minjeong followed him into different buildings, finally stopping in a shop when they got tired.
"It's almost dark. We should find a place to sleep," Minjeong suggested.
Taehyun nodded and walked over to a door, opening it and looking up at the stairs on the other side of it. He walked up with the two following him and opened the door at the top to reveal an apartment above the shop.
"Well this seems good," Beomgyu said, setting his weapon down and cautiously walking down the hall.
Taehyun looked around and went to the bathroom to look for any medical supplies, gasping when he heard a loud scream.
"Beomgyu!" He yelled, running out and seeing Minjeong trying to open one of the bedroom doors.
"He just went inside! It's locked!" She screamed, trying to open it.
He ran over and started trying to open it too, Beomgyu's screams making his mind cloud with something that was distracting him.
"Go see if you can find a key." Minjeong nodded and went to the kitchen to look through the drawers. "Beomgyu!"
"Taehyun, help!" He cried.
Taehyun finally kicked the door open and shot the huge monster multiple times until it died.
"Beomgyu?"
Said boy crawled out from under the bed and hugged Taehyun tightly as he sobbed.
Minjeong walked in, sighing in relief when she saw the dead creature. "Is he okay?"
Taehyun shook his head and grabbed a blanket to wrap around Beomgyu in a cocoon before lifting him up and carrying him out. Minjeong grabbed the boy's weapons and carried them out too, closing all the doors behind them before they walked back out to the street.
They explained what happened to the others who found an apartment that didn't have monsters inside of it. After learning about it they decided to stay there for the night, making themselves comfortable in the living room.
"I turned the generator on," Minjeong said, coming back up from downstairs. "Now I can make some food. One of you help me." Yeonjun nodded and stood up to help her while the others sat there.
"Are you sleepy?" Beomgyu asked Taehyun who shook his head.
"Are you?"
Beomgyu nodded and hugged the blanket tighter around his body, nuzzling into his neck as the others continued doing what they were doing.
"Thank you for saving me."
Taehyun was about to say something when he felt Beomgyu lovingly kiss his neck for a moment before letting his body fall into slumber.
