We walk into the Great Hall and Professor McGonagall starts to speak.

Welcome to Hogwarts,' says Professor McGonagall. 'The start-of-term banquet will begin shortly, but before you take your seats in the Great Hall, you will be sorted into your houses. The Sorting is a very important ceremony because, while you are here, your house will be something like your family within Hogwarts.

You will have classes with the rest of your house, sleep in your house dormitory and spend free time in your house common room.

'The four houses are called Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw and Slytherin. Each house has its own noble history and each has produced outstanding witches and wizards. While you are at Hogwarts, your triumphs will earn your house points, while any rule-breaking will lose house points. At the end of the year, the house with the most points is awarded the House Cup, a great honour. I hope each of you will be a credit to whichever house becomes yours.

'The Sorting Ceremony will take place in a few minutes in front of the rest of the school. I suggest you all smarten yourselves up as much as you can while you are waiting.'

I turn towards Oliver and Percy who are talking about the inside of the school.

"Isn't it wonderful here? I can't wait to see the dormitories and classrooms!" I exclaim to them.

"I know I read in Hogwarts: A History, all about the school. It's a very fascinating book." Percy says equally as excited. "And of course I can't wait to find out what house I get into! Bill and Charlie told me the test to figure out what house you would be in would hurt. I think they were joking though."

"That's so weird Dora and Charlie said the same thing to me. I think they are just pulling our leg though."

"How many siblings do you guys have?" Oliver exclaims rather loudly.

"Well I have my older sister Nymphadora, but she prefers to be called Tonks."

"I have Bill and Charlie, my two older brothers. Bill is Gryffindor Prefect this year, and six years older than us, and Charlie is three years older than us and best friends with Tonks. Then I have Fred and George who are twins and are two years younger, Ron who is four years younger, and Ginny who is five years younger." Percy says while Oliver looks at him in shock.

"How do you have so many siblings? I am an only child!" Oliver cries out in surprise.

"I don't know honestly, but the amount of fun is endless!" I exclaim.

We walk into the Great Hall and I immediately look up at the ceiling.

Wow! It's just like in Hogwarts: A History. I think.

The group of first years all join together at the front of the Great Hall in a cluster.

Sitting in front of us is a ratty old hat on a stool. It is leaning over a little and has a lot of wrinkles.

The hat sits up like a person and a mouth appears from the folds.

The hat starts singing,

"Oh, you may not think I'm pretty,
But don't judge on what you see,
I'll eat myself if you can find
A smarter hat than me.
You can keep your bowlers black,
Your top hats sleek and tall,
For I'm the Hogwarts Sorting Hat
And I can cap them all.
There's nothing hidden in your head
The Sorting Hat can't see,
So try me on and I will tell you
Where you ought to be.
You might belong in Gryffindor,
Where dwell the brave at heart,
Their daring, nerve and chivalry
Set Gryffindors apart;
You might belong in Hufflepuff,
Where they are just and loyal,
Those patient Hufflepuffs are true
And unafraid of toil;
Or yet in wise old Ravenclaw,
If you've a ready mind,
Where those of wit and learning,
Will always find their kind;
Or perhaps in Slytherin
You'll make your real friends,
Those cunning folk use any means
To achieve their ends.
So put me on! Don't be afraid!
And don't get in a flap!
You're in safe hands (though I have none)
For I'm a Thinking Cap!"

People around start whispering, while I stand staring at the hat with interest present on my face.

Professor McGonagall starts yelling out names and I don't fully listen until I hear Penelope's name being called. She walks up looking a little nervous, but she quickly gets sorted into Ravenclaw.

There were more people called, and then I hear my name.

I walk up to the hat and sit on the stool while Professor puts the hat on my head.

The sorting hat says,

"Ahhhh very curious. A intelligent mind and creative ideas, but not witty. Ravenclaw is not the option. Gryffindor isn't for you either. While very loyal, you lack the bravery needed. Slytherin and Hufflepuff are the best options, but which to choose... it's very tricky. Better be...

Slytherin!"

The Slytherin table cheers for me, I look at Dora and she looks a little disappointed but still proud. I can see Charlie cheering as well, he catches my eye and gives me a proud smile with a wink.

A/N:
I'm sorry if you don't like my choice of House. There was a heavy internal debate about whether to put Emmy in Slytherin or Hufflepuff. But her ambition to be as cool and smart as her sister pushed her to be Slytherin in my eyes. I hope you enjoy the story and there will not be an update schedule because I am lazy and will update when I feel like it.
