The sun shone brightly in the sky, peering through the curtains. The house was silent, leaving only the sounds of birds chirping and peaceful breathing.
The brunet opened his eyes slowly, feeling the warmth of another human beside him, pressing close. Ah, was this one of those rare days where he woke up before Chuuya?
Nevertheless, Dazai pulled the redhead closer, pressing light kisses on his forehead. Chuuya was still fast asleep, letting out a huff.
Dazai chuckled, it was a hard decision to make, but out of all the different versions, early-morning-Chuuya was definitely his favourite. He was quiet and sleepy and puffy and so fucking adorable.
One of his favourite things to do was to cuddle tightly with Chuuya on days like these. It was the best.
But alas, all good things come to an end.
Just as Dazai was about to fall back asleep,

The fucking alarm clock went off.The shrill noise pierced through his ears and he swore he could feel the blood pouring out.
Oh. Oh great, he let the alarm go off for too long and now his precious sleeping beauty is starting to stir.Dazai cursed under his breath and knocked the clock off the table (he'll pay for it later but for now it needs to die).
"Osamu?.."
Ah right, he'd started calling Dazai by his first name (because they both secretly like it, it's like a deeper level of intimacy).
"Top of the mornin' to ya, beautiful~" DazI whispered, keeping his voice soft and low. Chuuya labelled that as his 'morning voice.'
"What time is it?.."
"Mmm...around 6:30," Dazai replied, he was making a guess since the alarm clock was currently lying broken on the floor.
"Shit...I have a meeting at 8.." Chuuya mumbled, groaning at the thought of having to head to work.
"Then just blow it off for today," The brunet said that as if it was the most natural thing in the world.
"Huh? You know I can't. Ane-san will murder me," Chuuya responded.
Dazai scoffed, "Excuse me chibi, have you forgotten about all those times we skipped meetings? Or are you too cool and mature to remember stuff like that, in which case I am heartbroken."
"Have you forgotten about all the times when we got smacked by Ane-san for skipping? And please be quiet, it's too early for your opera."
Dazai chuckled and continued showering Chuuya's face and neck and forehead with light butterfly kisses. "Stay for 10 more minutes?" Dazai asked.
"..Fine," Chuuya smiled into Dazai's shirt.
10 minutes later.
The duo finally got out of bed and started getting dressed. Dazai used the bathroom first because we all know Chuuya takes an absurd amount of time to make sure he looks presentable (and he always succeeds).
They kissed each other goodbye and head off into opposite directions, walking towards their work.

Things between Dazai and Atsushi were...well, not the worst.
There was still a glaring tension in the air (which Kunikida still couldn't figure out).
They continued participating together in missions, completing them with ease, not letting this personal affair get in the way of their work because they both didn't want to disappoint Fukuzawa.Eventually, Atsushi did apologise to both Dazai and Chuuya, willing to accept any punishment.
They didn't want to go too overboard, so Dazai just made Atsushi write all his reports for two months. Chuuya said having to work with Dazai was a punishment in itself so..
Honestly at this point, Atsushi can't see why he wanted the redhead gone. Chuuya was cold to him at first, still sceptical of everything (which, Atsushi agrees, was deserved), but eventually he warmed up to him.
Things were definitely getting better. The Rats weren't interfering with anything and seemed to be laying low after the Mafia and Agency had ganged up on them during a joint mission (Dazai may or may not have pulled Pushkin aside and gave him a very pleasant talk).
Atsushi had pretty much gone back to his regular self. He did get jealous sometimes for the first few months, but got over it pretty soon (Akutagawa may or may not have played a part in this).
The Mafia and Agency were getting along for the time being, and two years later,

Dazai and Chuuya got married. And let me tell ya, Chuuya wearing an ironed white suit, a veil, and high heels was definitely the prettiest sight Dazai has ever seen.
The kiss they shared at the alter, the way they ran out of the chapel, the way Chuuya carried -20 kg- boxes -as if they were feathers- into their new home, the way Dazai surprised Chuuya with a puppy for his birthday, everything was perfect.

Waking up next to Chuuya was the best.
Waking up wrapped in Dazai's arms was the best. And neither of them would change a damn thing about it.
