Chapter 21: Betrayal

"Well." Sapnap started, biting his lip. "When Techno broke in the other day, we made a deal."

Sapnap hesitated, looking between the boys looking at him in confusion and then at Techno who had a smug but disappointed look on his face.

"I didn't tell you guys this but when he held the knife to my neck, he told me that on this date he would come and take Dream, I had to knock George out with a pill of some sort. Or figure out a way to keep him asleep. If I did, he would leave us alone."

Dream's nostrils flared, but his bottom lip quivered.

"So you were just going to let him take me? Even after George told you his story you were going to let George fall apart, basically all over again?" Dream snapped, cracking his knuckles.

"Well..." Sapnap started, but he couldn't say no because in all honesty, he was going to let that happen. Now defiantly wasn't the time to lie, either. "Yeah, I guess so..."

"I-" Dream started, biting back the cries he wanted to let out. The betrayal he had just heard from his bestfriend made him want to scream. "How could you?"

"Sapnap what the hell." George said, his voice raised.

"I know it was stupid, okay! I wasn't thinking! I made sure that it wouldn't work, I promise."

"That's doesn't make it okay."

"I know. I'm sorry."

Dream was silent. He couldn't believe what he was hearing, he wanted it too be fake. He wanted everyone to say this was some cruel joke and everything to be okay.. but it wasn't and he had to learn to deal with that now.

"Get out." Dream snapped, not giving himself time to think about what he was saying as he watched Sapnap's face drop.

"Dream..." Sapnap started, not knowing what to say.

"I don't want to hear it. Leave, get out. Now."

Sapnap swallowed away the lump in his throat and nodded, deciding it was best if he left anyway.

"Look what you've done." Sapnap growled in Techno's ear, holding his phone and coat and storming out the house.

"You can go too." George said, looking at Techno.

"Okay, okay. Fine by me." Techno replied, smirking smugly and turning to leave. "One thing before I go, I knew you knew."

Techno left before George had the chance to answer, leaving him stood puzzled while Dream paced the room in circles. George stumbled backwards into the wall, half in defeat, half in relief. They had finally believed it was Techno, Dream is safe but this whole time Sapnap was betraying them. Sliding down the wall, he placed his head in his hands and sighed. Neither of them knew what to feel, they sat in silence for a while.

Seconds turned to minutes.

Minutes turned to hours.

Dream finally spoke up.

"You awake?" Dream whispered from across the room.

"Yeah." George replied, lifting his head from his hands and stretching a bit.

Dream sighed, it was obvious he had been crying, most likely the whole time too.

"Come here." George said, opening his arms for Dream. Dream hesitated but eventually shuffled over and placed himself in George's arms. George pulled him closer, placing his head on his lap and beginning to play with his hair. Dream started to cry, loud and clear.

"It's okay, let it out." George comforted, fighting back the tears that were prickling in his eyes. Dream cried into George's lap for hours, George just playing with his hair and kissing his head, occasionally whispering comforting words to him. Dream finally stopped crying, falling asleep in George's lap.

George sighed.

"Oh, Sapnap. Why? Look what you've done to him." George said to him, looking down at his boyfriend below him and letting a few tears fall. "I'm so sorry, baby. I'm so sorry."

"I love you so much."

George played with Dream's hair some more before finally falling asleep.
