John walked out of Alexander's dorm and had to resist the urge to bang his head against the wall. Alexander was cute. He had shoulder length hair that he'd pulled back into a ponytail, wide, black eyes, was wearing an oversized hoodie and— basically, John was fucked. That man was so cute and John wanted to die.

He walked to his dorm, groaning as soon as he got into the room. He wanted to cry, because Alex was absolutely adorable and that wasn't okay. He had no right! Not one!

"Finally, there you— what's up with you?" Lafayette  asked. He'd been the one who texted, earlier; the message he sent saying that he needed help studying, and that John had to be back to the dorm 'right now wtf where even are you.'

"A new guy moved into Burr's dorm," John said, voice distraught. Lafayette waited for him to say more. "He's very attractive and I think I'm in love with him," he added, dragging his hands over his face. Lafayette snorted.

"That's what's got you all... ehh, what's the term? 'Down in the dumps?'"

"Yes!" John cried. He went up to Lafayette, who was laying on the tiny couch they had set up at the end of the bunk beds, and draped himself over the man forlornly. "Knowing my luck he's straight."

"Why don't you just ask?" John shot up.

"I can't just ask that, dumbass! He'd think I was like... creepy or something!" He put his face in his hands. "I'm never going to find love, am I?" Lafayette laughed at his friend.

"Calm down." He pushed the other man off of him and stood. "C'mon, follow me, John John."

"Don't call me that," John said automatically, before he paused. "Where are we going?"

"You're going to introduce me to your new friend, ah..."

"Alexander Hamilton," John supplied dreamily.

"Yes, Alexander Hamilton," Lafayette deadpanned. "Let's go." He started walking towards the door.

"Hey, no wait! I just saw him like three minutes ago! He's unpacking! He's probably busy." Lafayette looked at him, studied his face. John doesn't know what he was looking for, but he must've found it. He sighed.

"Okay, fine. We'll give it an hour. But no more than that!" Lafayette slid back next to John on the couch. John looped his arm around the other. "Tell me about him."

And John did.

Alex was something to behold. He had this certain brightness to him; even in the few minutes he spent next to him, John felt dull compared to his light. Selfishly, John wanted more. Like a moth drawn to a flame, John was hooked on a man he barely knew.

Henry Laurens wouldn't like this. Wouldn't like John letting his feelings get in the way of his studies. Especially feelings for another man. Henry was never really open minded, especially towards his eldest son who he had only the highest expectations for. The father and son had gotten into many fights over things Henry deemed 'unfit' for John, the first of which happened when John stood up for an lesbian couple that was being slandered at the dinner table. The fights just got worse when John came out as bisexual. His father eventually got over it, but John doubts that he'll ever be totally okay with it. At this point John doesn't know if he's totally okay with himself, either.

An hour passed in what felt like seconds, and suddenly John was being pulled out of the dorm by Lafayette. His chest hurt with the squeeze of anxiety as the two boys found themselves in front of Alexander's door, and Lafayette knocked before John could stop him. They only had to wait a few seconds before the man in question opened the door.

Alex paused, before a look of recognition rippled through his face. "Hey, John!" he smiled, and Lafayette smirked.

"Hey!" John said, waving slightly before feeling like a total idiot and forcing his hand back down. Alex's eyes found Lafayette. "This is one of my roommates... he, uh, wanted to meet you."

"Hello!" Lafayette said, French accent thicker than normal. "I'm Marquis de Lafayette. I wanted to welcome you, Alexander!"

Alexander nodded. "Thank you. And please, call me Alex."

"Alex! Are you gonna help me or what?" Alexander frowned.

"Sorry, I was helping Thomas— one of my roommates, apparently— study. He's..."

"A lot," Lafayette supplied. Alexander snorted.

"Yeah, you could say that."

"Well, I guess we should be going, then," John said awkwardly.

"Sure, sure," Alex said, though he seemed a bit apprehensive.

Lafayette grabbed John's hand. "Let's go, John," he said.

"Oh, wait!" Alexander called, hand reaching out as if to stop the other men. "Could we exchange numbers? So we can keep in touch," he added, a hint of what looked like a blush on his face.

"Uh... um.... uh, yeah. Sure. Yes," John stuttered. Alex's face lit up. He recited his number to the other boys as they typed it into their contacts. The two smiled at Alex when they were done. "Bye, Alex," John said.

"Goodbye, Alexander. It was very nice meeting you," Lafayette smiled. Alex smiled, too.

"Right back at you. Goodnight!" Alex closed the door.

John threw his head back and sighed.

"I am so, totally, fucked, aren't I?" John asked.

"Yes," Lafayette agreed solemnly, though he was smiling softly. John's face grew pink.

"I just got his number," he whispered.

"Don't act like you're so special, I got it too," Lafayette said smugly. John slapped his arm. "Hey!"

"Whatever," John grumbled. "Let's go."

They walked back to their dorm together, chattering quietly the whole way.
