Mother took me to the orphanage today. All of the children loved seeing us, I have learnt how to make fire creatures and they all seem to love watching them. Father has been teaching me magic ever since I discovered my powers (I may have accidently burnt my bed in the middle of the night, I woke up in a pile of ashes.)
"Nehemiah, we need to go home now, we don't want Uncle Aedion to be mad at you again for missing training." She winked at me and I smiled.
We walked back to the palace hand in hand, people we passed waved and smiled, we waved and smiled back, I loved my kingdom, ever since the rebuilding finished the city has come alive.
"You two are always late." Uncle Aedion growled at us as we walked into the training ring.
"You love us for it really," mum told him as she walked over to him, I stayed behind, letting them bicker, it was funny to watch.
"Mum, what missions were you on when you were twelve?" I asked her as I stepped into the ring.
I didn't hear her reply. Darkness rose from the ground and swallowed me whole.
I screamed as I fell through the darkness, I didn't know where I was or what was happening.
Rhys's POV
I felt the portal before I saw it, I was sparing with Az, Cass content to just watch. I watched as a rip appeared in the sky, high above Velaris and something fell through.
"Go, see what it is." I told the two Illyrians. They both took to the sky.
Nehemiah's POV
I was thrown into sunlight once more, but I was above a city. I shifted on instinct, becoming an owl and flapping my wings to stop myself from falling.
I looked around, the city was beautiful, but I didn't recognise it. Two dark shapes shot for me and I dove, father's training crashing into me. I aimed for the forest, it would give me the most amount of cover, even if my feathers were a bright white like my hair.
I knew the two things were gaining on me, their wings so much larger, I didn't get a proper look at them as I flew but I knew they were people with wings, a type of faerie I had never seen before.
I flew through the first trees before finding a particularly thick tree with a hollow, I landed and pushed myself into it.
I was just in time, male grumbling could be heard from below me, it reminded me of Fenrys and Lorcan.
"It was just an owl; Rhys was probably just seeing things." One male snapped at his companion.
"My shadows say otherwise, we should go and report back." The second male replied, his voice cold.
"Fine!" the first male grumbled, I heard them take off and I shifted back, great, now what was I going to do.
