I was little when it all began, I had a protector, Lee, he protected other people too, but he couldn't save everyone. You can never save everyone. The living were just as dangerous as the dead. A woman in our group named Lily lost her dad, and then she just couldn't cope. She took the life that Lee saved. Lee left her on the side of the road. Lee taught me how to survive. He protected me as long as he could, but he got bit because of me and even in the end, he was still teaching. "Keep that hair short, just not worth the risk." Lee wouldn't make it. He knew it was the end. He made one final request. He asked me to shoot him, and I did. I met another group after that. Broken people, running from their past. There was a woman who gave birth to a boy, Alvin Junior, AJ. He made it. But the mom didn't. And I started to take care of him. But then, Jane left AJ in the snow. We thought he was gone forever. That was the last straw for Kenny. And without Lee around... I had to make the call. I couldn't and Kenny killed Jane. It turned out AJ was alive. Jane hid him to make a point. Knowing what they'd done. I still decided we were better together. For AJ's sake. But like everything else, it wouldn't last. AJ and I travelled to a New Frontier. I thought we'd found something that worked. But I was wrong again. They took AJ from me, said I was too young to take care of him. I fought back, but I wasn't strong enough. I searched for a long time, just when I gave up hope, I found him, we're searching together now, for a place we can call home. I'm all AJ has. He's all I have, and I'll protect him with my life. Just like Lee did for me.
POV ClementineWe had been on the road for a while, driving, not knowing where to go. AJ was spinning the cylinder on his revolver in the back seat, it was getting on my nerves, as I adjust the mirror to look at my goofball, he was leaned back in the seat "bored. I let out a quick sigh. "Watcha doing there goofball?" I ask. "Pretending we got bullets." He says calmly as he spins the cylinder again. "Well don't, it's getting on my nerves." I say somewhat annoyed. He stops at this. "I don't like goofball." He says out of nowhere. Ouch. I look in the mirror with a somewhat shocked look. "Aww, I've always called you goofball." I say sadly. "It's time for you to stop." AJ says grumpily. "It's Alvin Junior." He adds at the end. "AJ still work?" I ask him. "AJ still works." He says causing me to smile a bit. I then see him put a hand on his stomach. "What's wrong?" I ask concerned, I hope it isn't diarrhoea again. "AJ?" I ask trying to get an answer out of him. "Hungry." He says. I let out a quiet breath before looking at the passenger seat at a magazine and a toy. I grab the toy and lift it up. "Hey there Alvin Junior, it's me, Disco Broccoli! Word on the street is that you wanna eat me! Is that true? Do you wanna eat me?" I say in a silly voice. He chuckles a bit. "C'mon Clem. I can't eat a toy." He says. "Aw man, my feelings are hurt." I say back. "Well my stomach hurts." AJ says. "Hm, sassy." I reply. I then put the toy down and grab the magazine. "Here. Practice your reading." I say while holding the mag over to him. He takes it. "But I don't wanna." He says. "It'll take your mind off your stomach." I say convincing him. "Preee-heat... oven. Place cream, vanilla bean- beans - into a sauce pan and bring to bo-oil." He says. "Uh, on second thought, nevermind. That's only gonna make you hungrier." I say. He closes the magazine. I then see an opened bag of cheese puffs. "Here you go." I say and hand them over to him. "About all we got." I add on as he takes them. "What about you?" He asks, I let out a breath. "Go for it. We'll find something else soon." I say, trying to get the hungry child to eat. "I believe you." AJ says.

I see a train station and start pulling over into it. Until we park. "We gonna do it?" I hear AJ ask. "Think so." I answer. "Looks clear." AJ says, he's perceptive at least. "We're doing it." I say as I pull out his little shiv and hand it to him, AJ quickly takes it. We both get out the car and I walk round to the back and open the truck before grabbing my bag. I grab our crowbar then the water canteen. "We need water too." I say to myself. I then close the trunk and sling my backpack over my shoulder. "All right, let's find some food." I say before walking in. A walker stands up from a barrel and I pull my knife out. "AJ, stay back." I say as I look at the walker. I then kick it's leg, causing it to fall to the ground before driving my knife into it's head, swiftly killing it. "It's down, still with me?" I ask AJ as I walk over to him. "Still here. No bites." AJ says. "Next we get in there." I say as I turn to the building. I then watch AJ walk over to an old tyre swing and I decide to see why he's interested with it. "Monster trap?" He asks me. I laugh a bit. "It's not a trap. You swing on it." I say. "For fun. You get in the tyre then someone pushes you and you go really high." I say, hoping he understands. "I want to try." AJ says as he looks through the tyre. "After we clear this place." He adds on smartly. I smile a bit at this. I then walk over to the door and try open it with the handle, stuck. I take out my crowbar and pry the door open with a grunt. AJ walks over so I crouch down to his height. "What do we do inside a new place?" I ask him. "We listen for monsters." He answers. Correct. "After that?" I ask. "Um." He says. "Come on you remember." I say, trying to get him to answer. "We." I say, hoping he'd finish. "Find a way out." We both say together AJ will remember that. "That's right." I say with a slight smile. I then peek through the door before opening it and walking in. I then gasp at the sight of 2 walkers in a chair. "Huh." I say. "Monsters." AJ says as he looks at them. "All tied up." He adds. "They can't get us?" He asks me. I then walk forward a bit. "No, they can't." I say. "Front door is the only way out." AJ says before turning to me. "This ones locked." He adds. "Security door. Hmmm, can't pry that one open." I say. "I know you're hungry, I am too. We'll find something. I promise." I say to AJ. I then decide to look around seeing a booth window. "Too small to crawl through, well for me." I say. "You see anything?" AJ asks me. "Looks like some cans. Could still be edible. One of us might be able to fit through there..." I say. "Is that the only way in?" AJ asks me. "Let's look around." I reply. "Let's be smart." AJ says. "That's right." I reply before walking over to the walkers. I look down and pick up a note. "Please leave us alone. This is what we wanted." I read off the note. I then notice a key and try to grab it. The walker tries to grab me so I jump back. I then grab a bottle of poison from the floor. "Poison." I say. "Did they give up?" AJ asks me. "They... wanted to leave this world together. Holding hands in their own home." I say. "Will we have a home?" AJ asks, causing me to look at him. "We'll see." I say, I want to find a place for us to settle down if we can, but it's unlikely. "So, the key or the window. Those are our options." I say. "It's dark in there." AJ says. He then looks at the walkers then back to me. "We should kill the monsters." He says. "They're not people." He adds. "Well they used to be people. And as people, they asked to be left alone." I say. "So what's best?" AJ asks. I think a little before I get up. "I'll get the key." I say before pulling my knife out. "I'm sorry." I say to the walkers. I then kill them both. "Good job." AJ says to me. I let out a noise of disgust as I grab the key. "Sorry it had to go this way." I say. I then go and unlock the door. AJ runs in. "Huh, they had a good thing going here." I say. "Can we stay here?" AJ asks me. "We'll see." I answer. He looks upset. "No one's here. No one's ever anywhere." AJ says. "I'm here kiddo." I say. "I know." AJ says. "You saying I'm not someone?" I ask and I cross my arms. "That's not what I mean." AJ says before running off to the window, he found bullets. He grabs them and puts them in his revolver. "Just a few." He says. "Remember what we said?" I ask. "Save the last." I start. "Save the last bullet for myself." He says. "That's right." I say. "C'mon, let's keep looking. There's got to be something we can eat." I add. "Hope so." AJ says. I turn around to see a can on the floor so I walk over and pick it up. "Spoiled. Sorry buddy, these are long gone." I say to AJ. "Fuck." He says. "Hey, watch the swears." I say. "I meant shoot." AJ says. He then looks down. "Look." AJ says, I turn to see the can roll over to the mattress, that has a trap door under it. "Huh." I say. I then start pushing the mattress out the way. "Floor door?" AJ asks. "Yeah." I say. "Must have wanted to hide something." I add. I then start opening the trap door. Food. "That's a lot of stuff." AJ says. "Yeah. It is. We could eat for weeks with this much stuff." I say. Then a frag grenade rolls out. "It's rigged!" I say loudly before slamming the trap door shut. "I then tackle AJ down as it goes off. "Oh... god... AJ." I say and hug him, then I hear walkers. And a lot of them, I look out the window to see. "Monsters." AJ says. I rush us to the front door and kick it open. Me and AJ run outside. "Oh shoot." AJ says. "Okay, we need to get back to the car." I say. Son of a bitch, we then run around and start going back to the car as fast as we can, but walkers block our way. "You know what to do. Stick to the sides and be my eyes while I clear a path." I say to AJ. Who nods in response as I pull my knife out. I kick ones legs out before I stab it in the head, the other walker grabs my arm so I fight back and eventually stab it through the chin. AJ then pushes over a bit of wood onto a walker. I stomp on its head then turn to AJ. "Let's get to the car." I say, me and AJ then run to the car.
