"There was something she wasn't telling me." Everyone blinked once at his response. "Are you talking about her?" Klaus asked, Five groaned but nodded. "There's a bigger operation going on, I know it." Diego rolled his eyes, "We don't know anything." He stood up and kept throwing a knife in his hands. "More importantly, you don't know anything." He gestured his knife towards Five, he scoffed. "And do you want to know why you don't know anything." Five kept his glance away from Diego. "Because your 58, horny little ass is trying to get laid." Five grabbed Diego's wrist and pinned it behind it above him to the fridge. "If I were you, I'd watch your mouth." He said through his teeth. "Now remember this and remember this well: I am a grown ass adult. I have seen shit that you would never believe! I am smarter, older, and have a lot more common sense in my left pinky than you do in your entire body." He twisted his wrist and Diego grunted slightly. "Guys, this isn't the time for this-" Vanya was cut off by five dropping Diego and going back to his chair. "This isn't just for him." He looked to the rest of the group. "Stay out of my personal business. None of you are my parents, I know how to keep myself out of trouble."
"Famous last words." Allison muttered. Five took the butter knife stuck in the peanut butter, he licked as clean as he could and threw at Allison, barely missing her by an inch. "Listen to this very closely: I don't have to tell you shit unless needed. Got that?" Everyone nodded with wide eyes. "So what's going on?" Vanya asked, "Reginald wants me to ditch you guys and work for him." Everyone blinked again. "What did you say?" Klaus asked, "I told him no and that he is stupid that he thinks I would help him." Luther shifted in his seat. "I think Five is over reacting a little bit." Diego said. "You don't have the right to speak at the moment." Vanya pointed out." Diego scoffed, "What do you think you're gonna do?" He asked, Vanya turned her gaze to him, "A lot more than you give me credit for." He flinched slightly but shook it off. "So...why do you think that asking you to be a sparrow is life threatening?" Luther slapped him on the back of the head. "What the hell Luther!?" Diego rubbed the back of his head and went to the freezer. "You read my mind Luther." Five smirked and picked up his sandwich. "Honestly though, it seems a little strange." Allison said. "Why does dad want you on the team?" Five shrugged his shoulders. "Maybe the sparrows are getting too old to play superhero." Klaus said. "But why so soon?" Diego said as he held a bag of frozen peas on his head. "Maybe he's desperate?" Vanya turned to Five.
"Five. What exactly did girl five say when she told you?" Vanya asked. Five took a bit of sandwich. "I don't know." He said in between chews. "She said he wanted my power." Everyone looked at each other then at Five. "What? What's going on?" He swallowed. "Guys if this has something to do with me then I have to know." Allison sighed but turned to Luther. "Go ahead, you wanted to tell him." Five looked at Luther, "Tell me what?" Luther pats Vanya's shoulder and she gets up for him to sit down. "The girl is using you." Luther said, "Way to sound so blunt about it." Klaus said. Five narrows his eyes slightly, "No no Klaus, let him explain that he thinks he is right and to try to make me look like an idiot." Klaus sighs and sits on the floor. "I was walking past Reginalds office after I came back from running errands." "Wait-so he can leave the house and not be questioned but I can't!?" Five interrupted, "Five, not now." Allison said, Luther continued, "His door was opened and I saw her and Reginald talking, I didn't think much of it until I heard what they were talking about."
-Flashback-
"No. I can't go through with this." Five yelled, she stood up, Reginald sighed but stood up with her and walked towards her, "Five, when will you realize he is asset for this project?" Her breathing slightly hitched, "Because you promised this would stay between you, me, and Christopher." Reginald scoffed, "You mean the cube." Five gasped slightly. "Well that cube has a name and I intend to use it." He clicked his tongue, "Look, I remember what I said but now, we have a way to reach our goal-" "You mean your goal?!" Five cut off, "You can be off the hook and Christopher will be back to normal." He touched her shoulder before Five slapped it away. "Back to normal!? It's your fault he's in this mess!" Reginald sighed a little more heavily than the last, "Five. I'm telling you this one final time; we need that boys power to bring Christopher back." Five turned her gaze away, "What do I have to do?" She asked and he smirked slightly. "Convince him to give it up." Five rolled her eyes, "Well how the hell am I supposed to do that?" Reginald chuckled, "He's 13 darling." Five shook her head, "You said that he was 58." He chuckled again, "Well, he sure is acting 13 if he's sneaking out with you." Five looked away slightly, "Ask him to join the team, drug him, do something but he needs to be breathing and alive." He sat back down at his desk, "I'm sure whatever you two have is 'special'."He used air quotes, Five looked at him, "Are we done here?" She asked, he nodded and she pulled the door opened and slammed it shut behind her.
-Present-
Five sat there in shock, why was he? He knew that this was a game, that she was behind something but why didn't he see it from the start? Why did he feel so hurt? So betrayed? He put his sandwich down and blinked upstairs to the loft library. He took off his shoes and curled up in the arm chair. He didn't know what to do, he didn't know how to take it out. Why should he be so confused? Five grabbed the blanket from underneath and covered himself up, "Aww! Is the little man sad and tired?" Five looked up and saw Ten leaning against the bookcase from this morning. He rolled his eyes and covered his head with the blanket. "C'mon Five, what happened at Griddy's?" She asked, he shifted away and turned to face the skylight, "I don't want to talk to you." He said sternly, she rolled her eyes but walked towards the arm chair next to him, "Fivey!" She tried to slid in the chair next to him but he pushed her to the floor, "Ow!" She yelled, she took off her shoe and threw it at five but he took it and pulled the blanket over him. "Hey! Give me my shoe back!" He smirked slightly, "Why should I?" He asked, he pulled the blanket over his head and clutched the shoe to his chest.
After a few seconds, he felt pressure on his hips, the blanket was pushed out of the way to see Ten sitting on him, "Oi! Get the fuck off me!" He shouted, "I'm not moving until I get my fucking shoe back." She said calmly, he blinked off and stood in front of her, "You want it?" He asked and he threw it over the railing. "Hey!" She yelled and blinked to get her shoe and he sat back down and curled back to his original state. She blinked back up to Five. "What has gotten into you?!" She questioned, "I could say the same about you Ten." He said. She sighed, "I don't understand what I did, but I'm sorry all right." He adverted his gaze elsewhere, "Is that what you wanted?" She asked, he rolled his eyes. "No." He sat up and looked at her, "I want answers." She sighed again, "I don't know what you want to know, I'm not physic." He stood up and crossed his arms, "Why does dad want me on the team?" He asked, She held her mouth open for a moment, "I don't know, he told me to tell you." She was lying, he knew she was. "All right then answer this; what does my involvement with Christopher have to do anything?" Ten blinked, "Where did-" "Better yet, why?" He cut off. She sighed again but nodded, "What do you want to know?" She lowered her head in defeat.
Without hesitation, "The truth." He answered.
