Chapter 6

Training Camp.

When Kasumi decided to turn around, but approached from above the tree line to get a hidden perspective. She was shocked by what she saw. Three villains at the end of the yard, staring down the pros and other students. One villain was holding Pixie-Bob down with his pillar. She wondered if she should help them, but her instincts took over for her real job. Find the other students and warn them to keep them safe. 'They're pros. They can handle this. Now to find the others of the...' A putrid smell of burnt acid gas interrupted her thoughts.

"Something tells me they already know." She jumps down and behind her search for the other students. It wasn't long until she literally ran into someone.

"Eh. Watch where you're going, Dripdrop. You missed all of the fun, though the smoke is something new. Maybe Ghost girl or Momo chick." Kaneki pointed at the approaching smoke.

"Wrong. These are villains. We are being attacked again." Kasumi retrieved her water from her heel.

"Yea right. You're just trying to scare me. Dumb way of doing it You got no creativity. Not even trying." He started to walk away but Kasumi grabbed his arm.

"Don't believe me? Check above the treeline and tell me what you see." Kasumi sneered, hoping she was wrong. Kaneki glared into her eyes before taking out his metal bow.

"Okay." He suddenly grabbed her side. "But you're coming with me. So if this is a prank, it will backfire on you. He turned the handle and shot up above the treeline. Kasumi squeezed tightly at the speed. Kaneki snickered, but instantly frowned. What they saw before them was a large pillar of poisonous gas and blue fire in the distance. "Dang. This class has some bad luck."

"The fire is staying in one place, so we can assume that is one of their quirks. It is possible the gas is too, or it's being generated by a machine." Kasumi assessed before being lowered to the ground.

"Okay. What does that mean for us?" Usually Kaneki would go in head first into battle, but he knew that would be risky with so much space and very little knowledge. Kasumi recognized this. 'Wow. He really has changed.'

"Gah. I don't know. Our main objective is to find any student and bring them back to the dorms. So it's best if we split up again, like at training camp." Kasumi ripped a piece of her garment and wet it before handing it to Kaneki.

"What the heck?" He stumbled back.

"This should stop the gas from getting into your lungs if you aren't too close to the source."

" Ugh. Fine." He shanked up his body to metal and began to walk into the fog when he stopped and checked over his shoulder.

Kasumi made her own breath before heading into the smoke, not knowing what to expect.

She then heard Mandalay's message. Even though she was told not to engage, she would if it meant saving these kids. 'Not again' The first group Kasumi saw was 1b debating on fighting or standing back. The Testsutetsu gave his speech.

"There is an odd circulation of gas towards the east. Be careful and think outside of yourself in fighting as well as training. I didn't see you." She nods before running away. 'Not bad for class b.' She could have told him that it could be a quirk or a machine, but she wanted them to figure it out for themselves.

Mandalay spoke again. "Finally. I don't have to make up an excuse." Kasumi chuckled, but paused at her next statement. "Of course the angry Pomeranian is the target. The villains couldn't resist his behavior in the arena."

Suddenly, an explosion echoes from the belly of the beast. In the distance, she saw Awase carrying Momo, running from a weaponized Nomu. ' No time to freeze.' Kasumi darted towards the Nomu as one of its arms geared up with a grenade launcher. She controlled a strip of water and began to spin it while sharpening in concentration. Before it could fire another grenade, Kasumi wrapped the water around the arm and created spikes from inside and cut the arm off. Unfortunately it exploded before she could dispose of it. She directed the fire and implosion upon herself and the Nomu, knocking the two back a few miles.
