The very next day, was quite sunny.

The breeze gently touched the loose strands of her hair as it danced off her head. Birds chirped as they romanced on the high tree branches. The blue sky was spotlessly clear.

Clad in a yellow sundress, Amy stood under a tree by the road, waiting for Hobi. The previous evening, she had run to the good store nearby and bought that dress.

Since she had already known Hobi for two years, she knew what he would like. And yellow was his favorite colour. With a cupcake, packed beautifully in a box, she stood waiting for him.

Her mind drifted off to the dates they had had before, correction, they were yet to have. The long walks by the River, the bicycle rides, dinner in their apartment terrace, movies snuggling together under a blanket. She smiled to herself.

A waving hand across the street suddenly caught her attention, and her face lit up. With a full and bright smile, across the street was Hobi. His fluffy hair bouncing on his head, his eyes into thin lines as he smiled. Dressed in a denim shirt and black ripped jeans, he stood across the road.

A few minutes later, the two walked side by side, a little shy and quiet. A boy cycled past them, ringing his bell as they walked uphill.

"I know a small cafe up the hill. It's quite nice. I'm taking you there," Amy could detect his nervousness as he spoke.

She knew of this cafe. It was the same place he had taken her for their first date.

Amy had missed his. The initial stages of their relationship when everything was so cute and sweet, with butterflies in her tummy every time she'd think about him.

"You look great," she said after sometime.

"I took tips from a friend for this," he replied. "Nice dress," he said, pointing at her.

"Thanks. Yellow is my favorite colour," she replied with a smile. "It suits you. You look very pretty," he said.

As they walked a bit more, he said, "Can you wait here for just a minute?"

As she watched, he crossed the road to a local flower shop on the way. Unable to hide her flushed cheeks, then her mouth in a full smile, she looked away.

And then, a crash.

The sudden loud noise, Amy recognized, was from behind her head. In shock she turned around and...

Trampled petals, flowers scattered everywhere. A car, smashed at the engine, up against the wall of the flower shop. Smoke had started emanating from it. The view was hazy; her vision, blurry. But even with those blurry eyes, she could clearly see a splash of red on the wall, and she had lost all colours from her face. Her lungs were empty. Her heart heavy. She stood frozen to her spot. Her legs wanted to move, but they didn't.

Why?

What did I do wrong?

Before she could reason, her feet started taking her back, away from the scene. Soon, she turned around and started running, not knowing where to go. Her left hand held tightly over her right, and she felt it. She felt the bumps, the lines, and she knew. She knew what to do.

With determination in her eyes and a mind dead set, she looked to her right and saw a truck approaching in high speed.

People ran from all directions to the site of the accident, but she walked away, her eyes only on the truck. As it got closer, without wasting a second, she put forward her right foot.
