     "well..."

A FEW MINUTES AGO...

an awkward silence ensued between the physically younger male and captain levi after you left. eren then slowly looked over toward the shorter male, who was already looking at him, blinking innocently.

"...uh hey?"

levi only smiled at him brightly to which eren nervously chuckled and smiled back. what the hell do i do? just stand here? the boy then took a sudden interest in the cream-colored cloth that was draped over the basket he was holding. as he began to get lost in his thoughts, levi's sudden interest in a squirrel went unnoticed.

the captain was totally focused on the brown, fluffy critter as it munched on an acorn. it wasn't long before the squirrel sensed levi's eyes on him. the squirrel froze completely, staring levi down, almost daring him to make a move. meanwhile, in eren's mind...

*a salsa version of sasageyo playing*

uh, ok... anyways...

levi was almost cat-like. as his eyes were locked onto the squirrel, he began to bend his knees. he then started to wiggle his butt. then...

...squirrel went zoom

and levi went nyoom.

eren didn't notice a thing as he was too concentrated on whatever he was thinking about. only a few minutes later did he finally notice movement in his peripheral vision. it was you, returning from going back to headquarters. "oh, (name) is back, captain—"

but when eren turned to look at the said male, he was met with nobody. eren widened his eyes and he could feel his face beginning to pale. that's when you had finally reached him.

"and that's what happened," eren finishes. you made him explain while the two of you (mainly you) rush to search for your captain. you nervously gulp after eren explained what went down on his end. so, day six of levi mentally being a toddler: he takes interest in a squirrel and decides to cHASE AFTER IT.

you're getting quite tired of him running off at this point, but panic ensues in your mind once again. you won't be able to cope with the fact that it'll be on you if he gets seriously injured somehow. or if he makes it into town and people start talking. you aren't sure which thought makes you more nervous.

eren glances at you, guilt quickly filling his conscience. you look pale and distressed, head constantly moving from left to right in search of the raven-haired captain. "i'm really sorry, (name)," eren sighs, his gaze sinking to the ground beneath him.

"i know you are." is all you could say. you are too focused on looking for levi to say anything else, meanwhile, eren slightly flinches at your response. will you forgive him? do you hate him now? lose your trust in him? however, he has to push those thoughts aside and do everything he can to help you. a new resolve finds its way to eren. main character determination swells within his chest.
