The First Victim

Dimentio paced around the Mario Brother's home as Luigi ran around frantic, trying to find all of his necessary belongings.

"Remind me again why your brother, Mario, is absent?" Dimentio asked tiredly.

Luigi stopped running around and rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly.

"Oh! Um... He's kinda... Busy?" Luigi replied.

"Alright, where is the princess?!" Mario shouted.

He was currently facing off against one of the Koopalings.

"You'll never find her! Hehehe!" Lemmy chuckled.

Mario gave a shout as he dive-tackled the Koopa, pinning him to the ground.

"Yeah, sure. 'Busy'." Dimentio scoffed.

He peered outside, it was only about noon. They still had plenty of time before they were truly needed. Though, Dimentio preferred not to waste any time.

Luigi appeared to notice the time as well.

"It's almost lunch, do you want anything?" Luigi asked.

"No, I need to pack my own things," Dimentio told him.

Luigi shrugged as Dimentio quickly floated out of the door.

He didn't really have anything to pack, he could teleport anything he needed to himself instantly. But Dimentio wanted an excuse to get away from Luigi.

As Dimentio floated through the forested area he rubbed his temples in frustration.

Why am I being asked for HELP nowadays? Dimentio thought to himself. Since when have I become the good guy around here?!

It seemed that no one thought of him as a villain anymore. It's not like he wanted to be regarded as a monster, but EVERYONE seemed to be taking advantage of his newfound 'kindness'. And if he even pretty much THOUGHT of saying no to helping them, they would immediately turn on him.

Dimentio sighed as he laid against a tree, slumping down onto the floor. He hasn't had much sleep in DAYS.

"A quick nap won't hurt anyone..." Dimentio yawned as he fell into a dreamless sleep.

BOY was he wrong!

As the sun was at about high noon, a trail of shadow streaked across the ground, heading straight for the Mario Bros. home.

It crept noiselessly up to the far wall and seeped through the closed window into the house. The darkness swept the rooms, searching for... something.

Meanwhile, an ignorant Luigi was busy packing while talking to himself at the same time. He was currently in his bedroom and shuffling through his closet, tossing clothes onto his bed.

"How long will I even be there..." Luigi asked himself.

The shadow mass oozed into his room from under the locked door.

"I should probably bring at least seven. I'm sure I could wash them there." Luigi decided.

The inky trail took on a humanoid form and crept behind the unsuspecting 'man in green', a sharp blade in hand.

Luigi turned around and dropped a shirt he was holding, his eyes going wide with fear.

"Boo."

Dimentio snored under the cool shade of the tree, unbeknownst to the danger Luigi was in.

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!"

Dimentio's eyes snapped open immediately to the sound of Luigi screaming bloody Mary. He quickly shot to his feet and teleported to the Mario Brother's home.

Dimentio landed in front of their home and smashed the door inward. He swept the hallways, looking for Luigi.

"Luigi! Answer me!" Dimentio shouted.

"AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHhhhhhglwlquwegbqlweubphl..." Luigi gargled.

Dimentio heard the scream coming from Luigi's room. He flew down the hall and broke the door inward to see a shadowy form stooped over a semi-unconscious Luigi.

A knife had been plunged into his chest and the blade was being dragged down his front. Luigi had blood streaking down his sides as he choked on his own screams of fear.

"HEY! BACK OFF! THE ONLY MONSTER ALLOWED IN THIS HOUSE IS ME!!!" Dimentio shouted.

As the shadow creature slowly turned to face him, Dimentio summoned his own knife and tackled the mass of black to the ground, a knife to its throat.

"I want you to beg for mercy and then get the hell out of my turf." Dimentio hissed.

The shadow turned its head around to look at him and began to laugh like a mad man. Dimentio raised an eyebrow in confusion.

"Good to see that you still have that killer instinct I left you with... Ah ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!!!" It laughed.

Dimentio flinched as soon as he recognized the voice of the demon. It was the one that had possessed him.

Dimentio stood frozen until the creature melted away right underneath his grasp, slithering away and out of sight.

Dimentio finally snapped out of his daze and then threw down his weapon in frustration.

"HOW COULD I LET IT GET AWAY?!?! ARG!!!" Dimentio shouted.

The sound of Luigi groaning snapped him back to reality. He quickly went to inspect the damage.

Dimentio winced, seeing all of the blood coating the ground. Luigi was still alive, but just barely. He looked Luigi up and down, trying to assess the damage. Dimentio looked him in the eyes, seeing the fear embedded inside. It was as if he caught a glimpse of Mr.L in him right as he seemed to stare deep into his soul.

Out of Luigi's chest floated up the Chaos Heart. It was small, in a frail weakened state.

Luigi coughed as he reached for Dimentio's hand. He grasped ahold of his gloved hand.

"T-t-t-t-take it... Y-y-y-y-y-y-y-you n-n-n-n-need t-t-t-t-t-to n-n-n-n-n-n-not b-b-b-b-be a-a-a-a-afraid..." Luigi stamered.

He leaned back and his hand went limp, now out cold on the floor.

Dimentio just stared, frozen by what just happened. He obeyed Luigi's will and reluctantly took the Chaos Heart, feeling the familiar rush of dark power course through his veins.

Dimentio buried the impulse to activate it deep inside of himself as he picked up Luigi from his heap of injuries. With a snap of his fingers, they were teleported away.

Though in his hurried act of panicked hysteria, he didn't notice an inky black shadow wrap a tentacle around his ankle, being transported with them to Castle Bleck.
