Lelia's POV:
"If he has so many wives then why did he marry me!" I raised my veil for the sixth time only for it to be put down on my face by the maid standing closest to me.
"Because his majesty needed to marry someone from the North Region. Two wives belong to the South Region, one is from the West Region, the other is from the East Region, and finally, you being from the North Region." The maid explained seemingly to hate being here just as much as I.
"Why do you have a sour face? It's me who got married to someone with four other wives." I asked in confusion.
"Miss- wait no. Your highness, I've been your maid since we were just little kids and I know exactly how much you love the fourth prince of our state but here you are. You're forced to marry someone whom you tried so hard to avoid." The maid explained finally giving up on putting my veil back on my face once I removed it.
So I'm supposed to be in love with someone else?
"Then why did he choose me?" I wondered.
"Because the Central Region and the North Region have been enemies for years and once they finally came to an agreement of letting the Emperor marry someone from our region, the Emperor chose you because he knew the fourth prince loves you dearly. It's his way of letting the North Region know that he doesn't lose to anyone by stealing you away from possibly becoming the empress of the North Region." The maid whose name I still don't know explained.
"Ohhhhh... wait, what's your name?" I asked.
"My name is- your highness are you okay? Did the fall really hurt your head that much?" The maid became frantic and started to touch around my body trying to find if I've been hurt.
"What fall?" I wondered trying to remember when I fell.
"The- the fall your highness. When you fell from the cliff on accident. Luckily the fourth prince was near and saved you." The maid looked extremely concerned so I decided to stop questioning her before I drive her crazy.
"Anyway, where my hubby?" I asked while stretching out.
"Who's hubby? Is it a man the fourth prince has sent to save you and bring you back to him?" She asked excitedly while sitting on her knees in front of me.
"Save me? I meant where's my husband. The Emperor." I explained trying to get that crazy idea away from her.
"The Emperor has arrived." Someone announced from outside almost scaring me.
"I have to go your highness. And my name is Glinda." She whispered to me and quickly threw the veil back on my face just as the Emperor came in.
A clearing of a throat was heard before the veil was taken off her face in one motion.
I finally looked up and saw his Majesty as they all call him. He's my husband for now so I might as well enjoy his handsome face.
Everything on his face is absolutely perfect. From his forehead to nose and plum lips. I stared at him for a few seconds before I heard him speak.
"Am I to your liking?" He asked but apparently, he was being sarcastic because when I tried to answer, he glared at me.
"What do you want?" He asked causing me to be confused.
"What? I thought you're the one who wanted to marry me...?" I asked.
"Our marriage is only an agreement." He answers while glaring.
"No way!" I stood up. I only want to get married once and there's no way I'm going to waste it.
He glared at me through his dark eyes and a huge scowl is on his face.
"Our marriage is a way to create peace between the kingdoms but we're still married." I quickly said.
Suddenly he smirked and started to come closer to me.
"You could've just said that you want to complete our marriage ceremony." He said while continuing to walk closer to me.
"What? I thought we were done? What else is there?" I asked confused.
Was I missing something? Or did they do something during the marriage that people in the future don't do?
He suddenly stopped and stared at me as if he's trying to see whether I'm lying or not.
"You... haven't done that?" He asked as if he didn't want to but he still wanted to know the answer.
"Done what?" I asked with a head tilt trying my hardest not to look like an idiot but I really can't help that I don't know what he's talking about. A sudden thought came to me.
"Of course not! This is my first marriage! Are you accusing me of being married?" I asked with a gasp before freezing for a second.
"And plus what if I was married before? Wouldn't that be before and now is now?" I asked which caused him to almost flare with anger.
Stupid. Stupid. They look like they value marriage more than their lives. Fix it. Fix it.
"What I mean is- I've never been married before," I said calmly as if that would calm him down.
"I heard the daughter of the prime minister is a calm, smart, and listens to her elders or people higher in class than her."
I gasped loudly while glaring at him, "You just married me and now you're thinking of marrying another woman?! You-you -you womanizer!" I almost yelled. Who does he think he is? Talking about marriage with another on our wedding night.
"I was talking about you." He said blandly.
"...Oh.. of course, I'm smar-"
"But now I understand that you can't believe everything you hear." He cut me off while I was trying to praise myself.
Now it was my turn to glare at him before calming myself down just as quick.
"You sleep on the floor," I said to him tiredly as I laid down on the bed, hoping for this dream or nightmare to be over with already.
I hoped that I would wake up and find myself in my room again.
Or at least I tried convincing myself that's what I wanted.
