"Cal!"
I hear a familiar voice call out, the sound of someone running echoing in the nearly empty hallways. The sound slows to a stop and soft panting replaces it.
"I was looking for you, Cal! You're late to class again!" I simply nod. This isn't the first time I have been late because of something like this.
"Sorry, Spirit, I will try to come earlier." I hear her sigh walking closer to me. Her hands gently grab my shoulders and turn my body around.
"Your class is 58 steps forward, turn right, then the door will be 8 steps forward. As for you," She paused her hands releasing my shoulders. "You're Liam, Correct? The new transfer student? I am Spirit. Are you having trouble finding your class? If so I can be of assistance!" She said chipper as ever. I wish I could see them.
"Yeah, I can't seem to find it. Do you know where room 249 is?" I smile as I turn my head towards his voice not wanting to lose the direction I'm supposed to go in.
"That's the same class as me." I reply happily.
"Alright! Since you both know where you are going I'm going to give you both a pass so you won't get in trouble!" I don't even have to see to be able to know what Liams expression is right now. Everyone is shocked, especially new students when they find out how much power Spirit possesses.
"You can do that? How? Aren't you a student like us?"
"The school system is a lot different here than any other school in the five realms! Here If you have amazing grades and always do your work no matter what then you don't necessarily need to be in class as long as you do your work. Also if you help someone out in the halls or keep them for a little bit and the student becomes late then you can write them a hall pass and it will be valid, but if you misuse this privilege then you will get in serious trouble." I say as she places the pass in my hands.
"Alright then! I trust that you two can get to your class now, so see you around!" Spirit says before I hear her walk off. I take that as my cue to start walking.
"1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14-"
"Why are you counting?" I stop, careful to remember which step I was on.
"I'm blind, whenever I am in an area I don't know I have a friend to lead me to where I need to be while I count my steps. That way I will be able to go by myself just by counting. Spirit helps me a lot. She memorised where I need to be and how many steps it takes to get there, that's how she was able to tell me where to go so fast." I said calmly, I'm so used to having to explain this to people that it doesn't even affect me anymore. "We should really get to class" I say, starting to walk again. 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20...
