Bakugo's was beyond peeved at this point. Even if half of his face was hidden, it wasn't enough to hide his contorting features.
"That's what your mark means." the boy spoke.
"What the fuck are you talking about? It's just a stupid mark, it doesn't mean fucking anything."
"If you come with me, I can explain it better."
A stupid kids prank was something Bakugo did not need, especially with his current mood. He found no appeal in noding along with a kids stupid story or in continuing the conversation.
"I'm not going anywhere with you. Go home."
"You want to get rid of all villains in this world, right? You wouldn't have applied to UA all those years ago if you didn't." the boy was searching for some kind of reaction from Bakugo, but all he got was a growl. "Let's say that I know a way for you to save more people than any pro-hero has ever saved. Would you come with me?"
"You stupid brat, don't disrespect the work of heroes." Bakugo said in a gravelly tone.
"But it's what you want, isn't it? That mark on your neck means you can. You just have to come with me."
His honeyed words were filling Bakugo's mind. It wasn't exactly what he was looking for, but he has been so lost recently. What was he even looking for, exactly?
"My name is Ernest."
Maybe this was his best option.
To save more people than any pro-hero could.
Ernest turned around and walked away from the light pole, confident that Bakugo would follow his step. And surely enough, he followed Ernest out of the yellow light, always keeping a certain distance. There was a symbol on the back of Ernest's robe. It covered his spine with a pattern Bakugo has never seen before.
"Oi, how long are you going to keep walking."
"We are almost there. Be patient."
Patient was not a word you would use to describe Bakugo's personality. It was basically the same as asking a crying baby to be quiet.
Used to walking in the shadows, Bakugo's biggest concern was the pristine cloak in front of him. It didn't frighten him, but was enough to make him be more cautious than usual. Finally, they arrived at a well lit street, the shadows faded around them. Soon enough, Ernest stopped in front of a plain looking building. There were no signs at the door.
Approaching the entrance, Ernest knocked lightly and the door opened almost immediately. Bakugo was still on the sidewalk, staring at the building, trying to find something, anything, that would make him turn around and leave. The lack of sketchy elements made Bakugo even more hesitant.
"We can talk freely here." Ernest encouraged.
Bakugo huffed, took his hands out of his pockets and stalked the boy inside. It wasn't an ordinary building at all, it was a whole mansion in the middle of the city. So focused on the symbol in the back of Ernest's robe and attentive to any predatorial sounds around them, he didn't even notice he was led to the luxurious part of the city. He hated rich people and their pompous personalities and lack of taste in pretty much anything. The decoration inside the mansion was simpler than anyone would expect, but he was aware that just one of those vases was more expensive than his own pathetic existence. He was led inside a dining room area by an old geezer in a black suit. There he had found the longest table he had ever set his eyes on. It was so exaggeratedly large, the room was too bright and too clean. Did anyone even live there, for real? Every painting, every vase, every candle holder looked untouched.
