I think Annabeth is an extremely underrated character most times because we are always undermining her trauma just like we do with Percy. Everyone undermines the fact that she was groomed and neglected by two people that she thought were family to her. When she only has her father he neglects her for a new life with his wife and twin boys. His wife isolates Annabeth and makes her feel like a ticking time bomb that will set off at any moment, Fredrick never told her to stop, he just let it happen. Then you have Luke who obviously groomed her and exploited her trust in him for his plans. He took her in yes and she never let this go because Thalia and Luke were the only people who didn't treat her like a ticking time bomb at the moment. Then when she found out Luke was the lightning thief she wanted to believe so bad that he had changed but he didn't and he wouldn't for a while. When Thalia came back she most likely felt better finally having a part of her family back. But she only had Thalia for some time before she becomes a hunter. Her other family would be an immortal maiden for the rest of her life. That had to hurt her in some way that she didn't show because Annabeth was always the rock. When she took the sky for Luke she thought that he had changed because he was gas-lighting her, he made her think she was crazy as if she was fighting for the wrong side. When Luke died she obviously felt some new trauma, the person she would least expect died, the person she wanted to change was dead, the person she defended and fought tooth and nail for died. Then she finally gets better when she's with Percy but he goes missing. In those months when he was missing she was broken, she had faced obstacle after obstacle but he was her rock, and her rock was gone. She couldn't break down because she was seen as the strong one, but not knowing where her not only best friend but the love of her life was probably opened up some close trauma. She was most likely feeling alone, like with Helen and Fredrick at her home. When she found Percy she was happy again but not even a few months later the two fall into Tartarus. This trip had to have ruined her, she was already holding so much and Tartarus added a whole new layer in trauma. She'd most likely always suffer from PTSD, from that pit. But she had Percy and stayed strong. When they finally get out of Tartarus they're thrown into a war, another war for her. Where she's not only fighting for her life but she's fighting for the safety of her home, her camp. After the war, she finally gets to go to New Rome and follow her dreams, only for her to find out her cousin Magnus is dead. Of course, Magnus isn't really dead but they seemed close so that most likely opened up even more old wounds. Such as losing someone close like how she lost Luke even if he was the bad guy he was her family. When she found out Magnus was alive she had to look into his world too and see what her cousin was going to be thrown into. When her life was finally looking up she gets a call, telling her Jason is dead. Jason was a close friend, she helped him but that had to open up trauma, losing another person to the gods, another person to war, another person who she cared for. So no I will never believe anyone is overrated because they've all been through a lot, one of those people being Annabeth Chase.NEXT UP..........
