CHAPTER 2

Practice was hell to say the least; after our many sprints up and down the field, Gashers is what we like to call them, we actually did other training routines. When we were finished, I stayed after to watch the boys do their tryouts because I wanted to know what I would be up against. I knew that I would have to stay up on my game because I could lose my place easily to one of the guys who tried out. There is always at least one good player on a team and seeing as the boys come from an original team from their school, there is bound to be a few good players playing for our spots.

I did notice one guy, however, who was trying out for my position on the team and that pissed me off more than anything. I knew my position would be tried out for, I mean I am a striker and from where I am from, that is an envied position. The thing that made it even worse was that the player that wants my spot is the guy from earlier, Mr. Lockhart; whatever his first name might be. This guy is really good and my spot on the team is put into jeopardy; I know that I could be placed somewhere different or I could be put on the junior varsity team and to be honest, that sort of scares me, even if it is a little bit.

After the tryouts, I left the field and had my driver, Daniel, pick me up since he had dropped me off today. Honestly, I should have driven myself knowing that I had practice today, also, if I had known that there were boys coming to our school and then some of their boys having tryouts directly after our practice. Either way, Daniel showed up minutes later and with a grumpy look on his face. I knew that I would be getting a lecture on the way home about responsibility and how I am no longer a child anymore. I get these lectures quiet frequently when I wake up later than I should or if I forget something important. Daniel is like a second father for all intents and purposes, he guides me when I stray, teaches me things that fathers should teach their daughters but, I am grateful for this because he has taught me what it is like for people my age who are middle class and do not have the luxuries that I have. Although I love Daniel like a second dad, and he teaches me things that my parents can’t teach me, I know that if my father were here, he would teach me himself.

Being a teenager who has everything handed to her seems like something that should be easier to handle, but my life is all but easy. I have parents who are never around aside from the occasional random visit. My father, Benjamin, is a Billionaire that was an heir for his father’s company, Parker’s Enterprises. My mother and father met when my mom was living out on the streets, he offered her a job at the company as his personal assistant and they fell in love. My mother is still his personal assistant so they are always gone on business trips and while my mother is with my father, she designs clothing. It is a passion that my mother has always loved and she pursued the art of being a fashion designer a few years after my brother, Alec, graduated school.

My brother went everywhere with my parents when he was younger, up until he was old enough to be put into school. He was even homeschooled his kindergarten until he became a teenager and he could stay at home by himself without parents around. When our parents bought a house in Beverly Hills, California, they enrolled Alec into the school there. Our parents would visit him often and he had a nanny, not the same nanny as I have, and my parents had moved Daniel, our driver, to stay with Alec.
