That Day By The Lake

6th year,Albus pov

We were sitting by the lake, class had just finish and it was a Friday afternoon. Rose, Scorpius and I were talking about todays charms class.

It was hilarious . We were learning a spell on how to change a colour of something. The amount of coloured heads in the classroom were unbelievable. It almost looked like a rainbow.

After laughing for a good few minutes we all went silent and back to our own thoughts.

Then all of a sudden Rose stood up and said "oh my god I totally forgot I have to meet up with Lex in less that 15mins."

Alex or as Rose calls him Lex. Was Rose's new boyfriend.

At the mention of his name Scorpius's expression turned into something sad and hurt. But he was trying his best to hide it. Clearly Rose had not seen it. So I decided to just leave it.

"Oh ok see you at dinner then" I said. Scorpius gave her simple wave and she was off.

After dinner,
The slytherin boys dorm

Me and Scorpius were getting ready for bed. And Scorpius was packing his bag for class tomorrow. He seemed to have his guard down so I decided it would be the best time to bring up today's events.

"You know I saw the way your face changed, when Rose brought up Alex." I said while continuing with my work.

He looked up from his book bag for a minute and turned back down to it and said " I don't know what your talking about"

So playing that game are we. Fine

" You can't lie to me Scorp and don't even try telling me you don't get triggered when you see Rose and Alex walking to class hand in hand"

He kept his eyes glued to the book but the look he was giving the book could have burnt a hole in it. He hadn't snap yet. So I just kept going.

"And when he walks up to her and hugs her from the back"

He snapped the book close.

"Kisses her on the cheek every morning."

He snapped around and said "Ok,it's true I don't like the way he is with her."

He walked over to his bed and jumped on it and acted like this conversation was over.

Oh how wrong he was, I thought to myself, a smirk growing on my face

"And why not" I asked pushing the conversation.

He didn't answer and kept reading the book he always read before bed.

" Does little Scorpy have a crush on our little rosie posie."

I knew the answer to this since third year but never bought it up.

"Sod off Al"

He looked almost sad at that statement. So I decided not to push it any further.

A silence fell across the room it was like we never had that conversation.

But after about 10 minutes, he whispers "She'd never like me that way. "

"Your hurting aren't you."

"Every day"

I couldn't bare to see my best friend this way. As much as I loved the idea of Scorp and Rose being together. I knew that it would never happen cause Scorp had asked her out at the end of year 4 and she had declined. They had all of last year to be something more but they seemed to have stopped at friends.

I looked at Scorp he was reading his book but his mind seemed to be else were.
"Scorp........ I can't stand to see you hurt like this and it's just a suggestion but.......... I think you should get over Rose"

He didn't reply

" You know try and get to know some one else"

Scorpius gives out a heavy sigh and says " I know I keep telling myself that every day, I think it's time I take my own advice."

"HEY, I'm the one who said it." I said trying to change the mood.
Well it worked.

"Whatever I'm still the smart one" Scorp says while throwing a pillow at my head.
