STOP:
If you haven't read through the AOT manga, do not continue! There will be HEAVY spoilers.
When I say heavy, I mean it's completely based on things that have not happened in the anime yet.
DO NOT READ IF YOU DON'T WANT TO BE SPOILED!
But if you are up to date, how are you feeling right now?
Takes place during Chapter 138 of the manga:
Year 854
All you could do was hold on for dear life.
It was becoming increasingly difficult to stay conscious as you stood on the shoulder of Armin's colossal titan, the boiling flesh almost searing through the bottom of your boots. The only thing keeping you alive was your determination. You couldn't feel your legs; you were pretty sure the left one was mangled... possibly beyond repair. You looked down to your right hand... but it wasn't there.
The explosion had miraculously only blown off that small part of your body. You were pretty sure nearly all of your exposed skin was scalded and burned- your face hurt, but you could barely focus on the pain over everything else going on. Why were you standing here, after all?
Your comrades had been able to escape on the back of Falco's airborne titan before Armin transformed, but you didn't make it in time. It was a miracle you aren't dead right now, but you were relatively far away from the blast when it happened. You managed to hook yourself to your only definitive ally, but it may be doing you more harm than good. You supposed you were already damaged enough at this point; there's barely anything left to lose.
You looked behind you. In the distance was the remains of what civilization you could still see- the walled city on a mountaintop. Falco's titan perched on the edge, and you could only assume your comrades were there as well. You couldn't see him, but you knew Levi was there. He didn't know that you were still alive... you could only imagine what he might be feeling right now. Most likely it was how you felt when you and Hanji discovered his near-lifeless body at the side of the river not that long ago, after Zeke had attacked his whole battalion and then escaped. What a whirlwind of events.
And it wasn't even close to over.
You turned around to face the menace in front of you. Before you and Armin was a titan of the same size, bearing Eren's likeness and long, stringy black hair. He was truly a haunting sight.
You took a deep breath, holding back the tears from all of the emotional and physical pain you've been sustaining. Hanji would have loved to see this.
You looked down again at your right arm. your skin was blown off about halfway up your forearm, the flesh burning and bloody. You'd clutch it if it weren't for the fact that your left arm was the only body part in you with any remaining strength, and it was busy keeping you grappled to Armin's titan. Instead you held the mangled arm into your torso, shoving the bloody lump through the gaps between the buttons in your shirt.
You closed your eyes, trying to think of anything to block out the pain. Levi had told you before that when he felt uneasy, he'd picture calming scenarios like a picture of freshly brewed tea. You almost laughed at yourself for thinking of such a thing at a time like this. Things were so simple then.
Suddenly you heard a blood-curdling titan scream from behind you. You used all of your energy to whip your head around to witness the disaster heading this way- the walled city was overflowing with pure titans. They came careening down the cliffside and barreling towards the armored titan on the ground... who now looked minuscule compared to the giant you took refuge on.
