27th February 2010
I gaze as rain drizzles down my window, cars rushing past minding their own business. I've been reading this book called wonder and theres this line that says something like how is it possible for someone to be having the worst day of their lives when someone else could be having their best day? While for example the car, Duh. I grab my cellphone and call Bailey Rogers, my BFF txt I had known since primary.

'Hey bailey can you come over? It's very important, I need to speak to you."
" okay I'll be right over."
The phone call ended and I give a sigh of relief she did not ask any questions, then again I know she'll never ask questions even when she is bursting to. Obviously because that's her personality. Empathy is a virtue.

Some one knocks on the door and it cracks open. A freckled face with untamed fizzy blonde hair pops round. " Hello there. Everything all right ?" I reply with a kind of sad tone " Yes,Bailey it's very important what I'm about to tell you." In a split second she's sitting next to me on my bed looking at me with confused deep Amber eyes. "Bailey I have............." I stop trying to gather the words into my mouth. "Leukaemia ." A short gasp comes out of her mouth followed by a mumma bear sized hug knocking me of the bed. I put my arms around her and started to cry. I cried harder then I have ever cried before. A wave of realisation pours all over me and a big punch of shock hits me in the chest grasping my lungs and squeezing my throat. "It's alright it's alright, hey you know what?" She says I'm going to make you listen to one of my favourite songs, always look on the bright side of life." So Bailey played the song and I listened as the song finished Bailey started to say that
" now even though you have leukaemia you can look on the bright side and appreciate life more."
" Do you know you're the best friend I have ever had?" I say
" yes I have." She remarks laughing. And on that sucky, crappy rainy day I laughed and I laughed and I laughed.

Today I tried to wake up with a smile, mission complete. I jog downstairs making an effort to surprise my parents after all there effort to cheer me up I had isolated myself from them, I even skipped lunch and dinner.
" hey there's my girl!" My dad exclaims obviously excited to see me
" well now that you are up we have an exciting day planned for you!" He says even more excited
" oh dad!" I groan, begging for it not to be another museum trip. " At least let the girl have her breakfast before you drag her off somewhere anyway I'm going to turn up the radio dad leave her alone!" My mum says emphasising the alone. Dad holds up his hands in mock innocence whilst mum walks out the room shaking her head. I grab a bite out of my toast I race after her. " hey mum what's on the radio?" And as I recognise the tune a smile creeps up on my face. Always look on the bright side of life.

If some people do not want me using the c word let me know.
