The cold air brushed against Anna's freckled face as she trudged across the path leading to the front of the hospital, her mum struggling to keep up. Sighing Anna approaches the front of the hospital, the sign of Asclepius staff towering above her. Anna turned and waited for her mum before continuing into the hospital.

Anna had been to the GP at least 5 times in the last three weeks ever since she got these painless bumps under her armpits,frequent infections and a high fever. She had been off school for two weeks and her teachers were questioning why she was away so long, and that was why she was here, to find out why she was sick. Anna bit her nails as she waited in a dark grey room for the doctors to get the test results from her last GP visit. Anna could hear screaming and crying from the children in pain, wincing at the thought. They waited for a couple more minutes before the doctor finally walked in with her white coat trailing behind her and Anna's test results in one hand.
"Sorry you had to wait for so long but I'm afraid that I'm just going to speak to your mum for the moment."
Anna nods her head and watches as her mum and the doctor walk outside and close the door behind them. Mumbles were the only thing Anna could hear for a few minutes until she heard a sharp gasp coming from her mum and a few seconds later they walked back in her mum obviously trying to hold back tears. Anna's mum then nods her head and the doctor starts talking to Anna.

"Anna I'm afraid I have bad news to tell you,"

Anna prepares herself for the worst "you have acute lymphoblastic leukemia. This is why you have been tired and have all those infections. But I also have good news, there is an 80% chance you will live for another five years but this is no guarantee. The type of leukemia you have is when your body produces to many immature lymphocytes that help fight infection, if we start you on treatment soon you will be fine for now. Oh and the genies will be in touch soon. I'm really sorry Anna" The doctor then leaves and closes the door
"Come on honey lets go"
Anna just nods her head to shocked to say anything her whhole world collopsing in front of her. Anna and her mum get up and walk out into the cold in silence, the breeze making Anna tuck her hands into her pockets. Anna just kept walking as if she was emotionless.
"Hey why don't we get a nice cup of hot chocolate at your favorite cafe?"
Again Anna just nods her head
"Alright then let's head over to jimmys." Her mum says trying to be merry even though she knew it wasn't working her mum could hardly keep the cheeriness in her voice anyway.
Anna slides into the Toyota and blasts the heating on checking the temperature whilst she was at it.
10 degrees
"Cold, isn't it," her mum says
Anna shrugs her shoulders
"Look sweetheart I know you're upset but everything's going to be alright ok."her mum says giving her a hug. Suddenly Anna bursts into tears her whole body shaking in her mums arms. Anna watched as a trickle of water traced down her mums face but she quickly wipes it away wanting to keep Anna strong. 
"It's alright it's alright, why don't I call dad and Thomas while we head home and then all four of us will have home made pancakes and ice cream for dinner ok?"
Anna nods her head
"Thank you mum"
Anna's mum shifts the car into gear and then they both drive home.
