Zuka's POV:
I woke up feeling like shit my head was pounding, I couldn't breath out of my nose, and my throat felt like it had been scratched by cats. Great the rain got me sick, not to mention my side was still killing me. There was no way the old man was going to let me go home like this. If there was an ambush I would be a sitting duck, plus in a neutral zone it was like super illegal to harm anyone here without serious consequences. It was the safest place for us right now.
I groaned and grabbed the bottle of water from the best side table and chugging it, Athena hopped on the bed snuggling under the covers. She always knew what I needed and right now she was the best heated pillow I could ask for. I just needed to rest and then I could get back to work, just a few hours of sleep and maybe some egg drop soup. I coughed until I felt like my lungs were going to fall out, and sighed slowing falling asleep in my comfy old bed with my best friend. Just like old times.
Levi's Pov:
"I can't believe we let them get away!" I shouted slamming my hand on the table toppling over some of the tea cups.
"Calm down Levi, we were able to wound them, and Hange is analyzing the blood on the knife." Erwin said calmly. "We will have out culprit soon." He took a sip of his tea which he managed to snag before it spilled.
"It doesn't matter! We still lost over a million dollars last night, all because of one person in a mask." I shoved my food around my plate, I hated how he treated me like a child he wasn't that much older than me.
"It sounds like you guys had another run in with the Shadow Vigilante." The restaurant owner said as he walked up with a rag and more tea.
I had almost forgotten that Erwin had dragged us back to this restaurant for dinner and Sake. It was true that Ukai was a great informant of what was going on in the city but I don't understand why we couldn't just eat at the mansions, we have our own chefs. He did make pretty good tea though, I've tried to hire him a couple of times but he always refused. He said we wanted to keep his grandfathers shop running and for the purpose of the neutral zone in the same family.
"If getting our asses kicked what you call a run in then yes," My voice was curt and clipped I had no desire to recount the events of last night.
"So I've heard," Ukai lit a cigarette and sat near our table "The Shadow has been reeking havoc on all of the syndicates I heard even the Yakuza themselves have taken a major hit, crime rate has gone down significantly." I know he was trying to be helpful but it was just pissing me off more.
"Don't you think I know that?!" I slammed my cup but didn't break it. Erwin was already glaring at me when I looked up and Ukai looked unfazed as well.
Eren, Mikasa, Armin, and a few other of our group hand gone back to eating their food looking away quickly they knew not to interfere when I was pissed off. Even Ukai stayed quiet just enjoying his cigarette trying to keep the peace by not adding anymore tension. Just then we hear a chilling cough coming from the ceiling above.
"Got company Ukai?" Jean the horse face moron piped up and nudging Armin with his arm.
"Don't get any ideas," He shoved him off and racked his fingers through his hair, "My daughter came down with the flew a few days ago, she's been staying with me so I can keep an eye on her." He sighed taking another long drag.
"I'm sorry to hear that, I hope she recovers soon." Erwin said trying to be sincere but there was suspicion laced in it.
"She will she's always been a fighter, now if you'll excuse me I should go check on her now that she is awake." He got up and bowed leaving us to the rest of our meal and headed up to the upper apartment.
