A/N: This is the beginning of part 2, which takes place the summer before the Order of the Phoenix (Harry's 5th year); thus, you are to assume everything that happened in the Goblet of Fire (Harry's 4th year) occurred before part 2 begins (movie or book is fine since I won't go into specifics). Unlike part 1, part 2 is from Percy's POV, so I will use American spelling and terms and sentence structure (e.g., double quotes) to represent how he'd think. Without further ado, let the story continue!

Harry was coming back! Harry was coming home! He was on a plane from England to America! To JFK in New York! I was absolutely thrilled!
Maybe I was overly enthusiastic, but can you blame me? He hadn't contacted us the entire year! No calls, no letters, no postcards. Nothing. The only message we received was from his principal regarding the time of his airplane's arrival. Except the plane was delayed, so his arrival was going to be just before dinner, the same as his first summer here. I could not wait!
Mom made blue chocolate chip cookies for dessert and Paul had an American classic ready to go on the small balcony of the apartment for when we got back from the airport—cheeseburgers on a charcoal grill with some corn on the cob. I had a surprise for him waiting at home too. Actually, I had two surprises. I hoped he didn't mind the second one. He mentioned it several times last summer, so I thought everything would be fine. That statement proved only partially correct by the end of the night. Harry really had a habit of bad first nights in America.

It started out good, though. Great, in fact. Mom and I waited for Harry at the gates with a cheesy "Welcome Home Harry" sign. The first few letters of "welcome" were a bit too big, so I had to cram in the "m" and "e." But thankfully, I learned my lesson with "Home Harry" on the second line (unlike every birthday card I've ever written). (A/N: props to those who understand this reference)
I spotted him first. His hair was ruffled and his suitcase/trunk thing was at his side. His eyes were downcast and his attention elsewhere, but he quickly donned a smile when he saw us. That smile soon became unrelenting laughter at my poster. We attracted a few stares, but most New Yorkers didn't bat an eye unless it was to judge us. Things were going well.

I caught Harry up on the few things I could tell him about college during the car ride home. I tried to make it sound as normal as possible. I mean, I wanted to tell him that I'm a demigod, son of Poseidon, because I hated lying to him, but he deserved the normal childhood I never got. Or at least as much of one as he could. He struggled as a kid in an abusive home, he was forcefully removed, he went to a boarding school of all things (A/N: I think boarding schools are less common and have a more negative connotation than public schools in America compared to the UK, but I haven't done the research. Plus, Percy hasn't had the best experiences with them. Correct me if I'm wrong, though.), and he had to uproot his entire life and leave his friends over the summer to live with us. Yeah, he didn't need to know about the gods or monsters or magic (looking at you Carter and Sadie!) or dangers that threaten to kill you. I'd never want him exposed to such trauma. I don't think I could handle knowing he had to handle even some of the crazy things I've had to deal with. Being number one on someone's "To Kill" list is not fun. But I digress.
"Hey, Harry?" I said to get his attention, not drifting my focus from unlocking the door.
"Yeah?" he replied.
"There's someone I'd like you to meet. Sorry if it's a little much in one day, but they were here for the week and thought it'd be ok to stay the weekend. They wanted to meet you."
"Wanted to meet me?" Harry asked incredulously. "Who'd want to meet me?"
I just laughed and pushed open the door, stepping aside to let Mom through and Harry after her. Paul's laughter in the kitchen caught Harry's attention as he headed that way. Both of them broke into grins as they embraced each other. It was nice that Harry called him Uncle Paul. He has been a good father figure to Harry and me. I was really happy to see they took a strong liking to each other. But as soon as they pulled away, Harry's jaw dropped. He'd spotted my amazing girlfriend, my Wise Girl, daughter of Athena, Architect of Olympus, Annabeth Chase.
