Riley stood there, in her bedroom stunned. The robber-her grandfather. After staring at him-unconscious- for about 10 minutes, she ran to the kitchen, got as many ice packs as she could find for his head, and ran back to the bedroom. When she got back she lifted him up onto her bed, tying to situate him as comfortably as possible, before setting about 7 ice packs on his head. About an hour later, he came to. Dazed and confused (possibly from a concussion), Riley tried to aid him. But eventually, Riley got so anxious, she just spit it out.
"Why were you robbing my apartment??"
"I...I.."
"Come on just tell me! I don't mean to be rude, but you can't just go around robbing people's apartments!"
"I'm sooooooooooo sorry!! I...I......just, well, your grandmother and I are getting a divorce, and lost my job, and I didn't want you guys to think anything was changing, and I surely didn't want to ask for help from anyone!"
"Are you still living in your apartment?"
"No, I was kicked out yesterday, I slept on a bus bench last night"
"Well you can stay here if you want until you get back up on your feet. I could help you get a job, and you know, get your life back together."
"Thanks Riley, it really does mean a lot, but I'm to old, it's just not going to work. No one wants a 64 year old guy working at a restaurant, shedding his hair."
"Well maybe it's time to start looking for retirement homes"
"I guess"
*And the search began*
