Chapter Five

Friday Night

- Maya -

We had just got done shopping for my mom. After looking around some to waste time, we went to Alex's truck. Once in I asked, "So where are we eating at ?" "Pizza Hut, if that's alright with you? " Alex said as he looked over at me. "Yeah, I have been wanting to go. I haven't been there in a while," I said as I picked a CD to listen to. As one song came on Ann said, "I love this song. Turn it up." I turned it up, and we all sang with Charlie Wilson on the way to the restaurant.

Once we were seated, we ordered drinks. "What are y'all planing to do this summer? " Alex asked us. "I going to New York with Jenny for a month," Ann said. " I am not really sure, but I am going to be looking for an apartment. If I find one big enough I was wondering if you two would like to be my roommates?" I said, as I waited the waiter brought our drinks and got our order. "Yes, I was hoping that we would get a dorm or an apartment. What about you, Alex, are you in?" Ann asked leaning forward in the booth. "If something doesn't happen where I can't," he said giving us a high-five. "But what are your parents going to think about a guy living with you? " he asked raising an eyebrow. "They may not like it, but they can't say anything. You can have one room and Ann and I can have the other if it's a two room," I told him. "But I wanted to room with you, sexy lady," Alex said with wink. "Maybe. Not! " I said. "It's OK. You can always stay with me," Ann told him after he started pouting. "At least someone loves me," he said and then stuck his tongue out at me.

After everyone got here, we went in to find a seat. I looked around to find her and her friends. I did not have to wait long. I saw her and her friends in a booth eating pizza and talking. "There she is," I whisper knowing they could hear me. "The brunette sitting by the blood girl and that guy ? " Christopher asked as they looked over at her. "Yes, that's my mate." Nick slapped me on the back as we walked over to a table with in view of Maya. "She is hot," Nick said with a low whistle as he sat down. Christopher punched him on the arm and said, "He didn't mean anything by it, but she is gorgeous." Laying his hand on my shoulder, Richard said, "Calm down Kyle. We don't want any problems." I didn't realize I had been growling until he said something. "I'm fine," I said as I sat down.

It wasn't long after we got there that we get our pizza. The waitress was trying to flirt with us the whole time, but only Chris and Nick flirted back. "When are you going to get her," Chris asked turning towards me. Looking over at Mike, I said, "It will be after she graduates. I want her to finish high school first." "It will make it better on all of you to do that," Mike said nodding his head. "Are you connected to her yet? " asked Richard. I took a bite of pizza before I answered. "Not yet. I don't want to do it at school," I said as I looked over at Maya. "That's understandable, to many humans around," Richard said. I was about to say something when Nick cut in saying, "Why don't you do it tonight? Just pull her away from her friends and get a sip of her blood." I frowned at him thinking how that would go, but it might work. I looked at him and nodded my head and went back to eating.

After we were done eating we waited until they were about to get up. As we paid for the food Maya. and her friends walked up. "Maya, Ann, Alex, it's good to see y'all," Mike said walking up to them. "Let me introduce my friends to y'all. I am sure you know Kyle VanAlen; his little brother, Christopher VanAlen; Richard VanAlen, their cousin, and Nicholas Drake," Mike said pointing us out. "Hello, it nice to meet you all. I am Maya," Maya said looking at the other guys. She then looked at me. I wanted to just grab her and take her home with me, but I can't, not yet. "Maya can I speak with you for a moment?" I asked using a little compulsion on her, so she would stay calm. "Yeah, sure, " she said smiling and walked outside with me.
