It was yet another night where they were left alone, left without any warmth in bed. Every time they reached out an arm expecting it to come into contact with their husband, they were left with nothing.
This had become a common occurrence over the past few weeks. Now, they knew Diluc was a busy man- flying between Dawn Winery and also his Tavern to handle business. But at least then he would return home, enveloping them in a tight embrace. But now...he rarely every returned home at a suitable time.
With a sigh, they stretched out in the large bed and buried their h/c haired head in his pillow- inhaling his cinnamon scent as a way to try comfort themselves, and it worked for a little while. After tossing and turning, they let out a groan: unable to get back to sleep. And as soon as they were about to give up all hope, their front door creaked open.
"Diluc?" They called, scrambling to kick the covers of their legs and sprinting down the stairs to the front door- where he stood. His red locks were tied in a high ponytail, highlighting the scratches and bruises that had shown up on his face. As soon as he turned towards them, his eyes instantly softened.
"Why are you still awake, love?" He murmured as he wrapped his arms around their figure, burying his face in their shoulder as they hummed.
"I woke up without you again...and I couldn't get back to sleep" (Y/N) sighed, pulling away to look at his face. They scowled at the injuries he had sustained, even though they weren't life threatening- they still hated seeing him in pain.
"Well, I'm home at last" Diluc said gently, placing a kiss on their forehead before tugging off his coat, and wrapping them in a hug once more.
