Amber LeRay Charles. Most people knew her as the girl who lacked emotion or seemed blank at all moments of the day. People made fun of her for it, but she didn't care. She didn't need to be popular and have all the friends in the world just the important ones. Like her mother has always said, "Those who mind don't matter, those who matter don't mind." she listened to those words and always thought how queer it was to have those two groups of people. She was at school wearing her uniform and her black hair in a ponytail with her bangs curved but centered on her face and small sections of hair on the sides of her head. She looked blank per usual, but she didn't care to fix it. There was no reason at that moment to smile or to show any other type of emotion, she just wanted to read in peace. As she was reading she noticed out of the corner of her eye was her friend Oaklyn Rose. Oaklyn was a quiet and timid girl with dyed blue on her black hair, deep blue almost purple eyes, and fair pale skin. She too was in uniform with her usual long purplish-grey arm sleeves with spider webs. "Hey, Oka-Cola." Amber said, smirking and using the nickname that she gave her when they were in middle school. Oaklyn looked at Amber with slight embarrassment, "Wh-why do you use that nickname still?" Oaklyn said with her soft tone of voice and a small blush. Amber smiled slightly and booped her friend's nose, "Because it's fun and I enjoy seeing you embarrassed." She said with a proud grin. Oaklyn always admired how Amber seemed like a completely different person depending on whom she's with. Oaklyn cracks a small smile and looks at the ground attempting to hide her blush. Amber patted her back and that happy moment was soon ended by the sounds of one of their bullies walking towards them. Amber's emotion quickly changed to an unreadable one while Oaklyn looked terrified. As Julie walked by she kicked Amber's shin and tried to hit Oaklyn but Amber grabbed her wrist with an iron grasp. "Hey what do you think you're do-" The bully was interrupted by Amber squeezing harder with a glare, "Leave." That was all Amber said before she let go of their wrist. "Tch, who do you think you are? You can't tell me what to do!" Julie said as she stormed off planning on how to make this day a living Hell for them. Oaklyn looked surprised by Amber's actions and thanked her. "You shouldn't have to thank me for anything I just did what was right." Amber said with a soft smile. Oaklyn blushed a little and smiled slightly, she was always confused of why she had felt a certain way towards Amber. She told herself their just friends but she always felt like it was more. She obviously didn't say anything out of fear of rejection. Amber smiled and put her book away and picked up her bag and Oaklyn's. "Alright Oka-Cola, let's get to class." Amber said with a slight smile. Oaklyn looked up at her and nodded then reached to where she left her bag and then she noticed it on Amber's shoulder. "I-I can carry my own bag Amber." She said trying to sound as nice as possible. Amber shook her head, "I got it don't worry." She said softly with a sweet smile and started to walk. Oaklyn followed a blush covering her features. Once they reached class Amber set the bags down and sat in her seat next to Oaklyn. Class started about two minutes after they sat and class began. When class was over for lunch Oaklyn and Amber got their lunches and walked towards the school courtyard and ate their lunch which consisted of a French Croque monsieur sandwich with grapes and cheese as a side for Amber and Oaklyn had a New York-style sub with chips and a salad. As they were eating, Amber saw Julie walk up to them with her little group of friends. "You two are in our spot so beat its losers." Julie says putting her hands on her hips. "Losers? How original," Amber said sarcastically, "and we always sit here so beat it and sit somewhere else." Amber said in monotone and a blank expression. Julie did not look happy by that comment, "Who do you think you are? You can't tell me what to do," Julie grabbed Amber by the collar of her uniform shirt and looked furious, "beat it now! I can make your life ten times worse than it already is!" Julie waited for a reply but Amber stayed silent, Julie laughed a little. "Awww got nothing else to say? Just like your mom when she got killed for picking a fight with the wrong person. Apple doesn't fall too far from the tree huh?" Julie said with a sickening grin and her little friends laughing behind her. Those words hit Amber like a freight train. In a pure blind rage, Amber punched Julie on the right side of her face and kicked her knee which released Amber from the hold and knocked Julie to the ground. Just before Amber could do any more damage Oaklyn grabbed Amber's arm so she couldn't move. "Oaklyn let me go! She doesn't know what happened to my mom! She's going to pay for saying that!" Amber yelled through tears. "A-Amber calm down, please! She isn't worth it!" Oaklyn said, still holding her arm. Julie got back up and glared at the two, mostly Oaklyn. "Don't think this is over." She warned and walked off with her friends. The bell rang telling students to get back to class. Amber was silent for the rest of the day not even bothering to go to her club after school and just went home. As she was walking home she heard something odd coming from the forest so she went to look at it. She saw this thing in the distance, she couldn't make out what it was so she got closer to inspect it farther. All of a sudden she was gone as a black fog surrounded her and in some way transported her to where two other normal people were, a girl wearing a sailor's outfit and a boy wearing a dark red button-up. Oaklyn was still at school because she was a club leader for the book club. After the club activities, Oaklyn was walking home when she bumped into Julie. "I-I'm so s-sorry-" Oaklyn looked up and saw Julie and her eyes went wide afraid of what she would do to her. Julie smirked. "You know Oaklyn, you and Amber think I don't know anything and just spread rumors, but I know one major secret of yours." She said with a twisted grin and Oaklyn was frozen in place, how did she know about her feelings for Amber, how did she figure that out? She started to tremble. "P-Please don't tell.. I-I'll do anything!" Oaklyn pleaded with tears. She didn't want people to know, last time anybody did she had to move from her other town. "Oh, I won't tell." Julie was lying but Oaklyn didn't know and took a sigh of relief. She thanked her and left, running home. Julie pulled out her phone and made a post about Oaklyn having feelings for Amber. Julie finished the post with a sinister grin, "Poor little Oaklyn." She laughed, "Tomorrow your Hell begins." She walked to her own home. The next few days went horribly for Oaklyn being bullied, getting horrible notes in her locker, and just being treated horribly. Not to mention Amber went missing without a trace. Oaklyn didn't know why until she saw on somebody's phone the post-Julie did and her eyes went wide and started to get tears then ran to Julie. "I thought you said you wouldn't tell!" Oaklyn cried. Julie turned to her with a smirk, "I lied." Julie said plain and simple leaving Oaklyn to her thoughts. She sneaked out of the school and just ran home with tears streaming down her cheeks. When she arrived home she walked to the bathroom, all the comments people have told her running through her head, the loss of her friend and crush. With tear-filled eyes, she grabbed a razor blade then looked into the mirror. "I'll get to see them again.", was all she said before she ran the razor across her wrists, blood spilling from the wounds and fell to the ground.
