The next morning, after getting ready, I sat in the kitchen eating my breakfast. I only had cereal since I didn’t actually know how to cook. I glanced up at the clock - it's seven fifteen. When I woke up there was a note on my dresser telling me to be ready for my first training session at half seven. It also said I would be doing a test to find out which kind of witch I am. What types are there anyway? I guess that I will find out.
After I washed up my bowl and spoon I realized that it was nearly half seven and so I headed down to where the witch training room was. Lucky Chris gave me that tour otherwise I would be lost. I walked in to the room to be greeted by Fran and Matt.
“Morning. " Said Fran in a chirpy voice. “I'm going to finish setting up in the next room whilst Matt explains the different types of witches and what they can do. " Fran left the room and I turned to face Matt.
"Okay, so there are lots of different witches. First are the fire witches. They can control fire but can also raise temperatures, become fire and cause people to get really angry. Next are the water witches. They are basically the opposite. They control water, lower temperatures, can become water and can make people feel calm. Ice witches and make flames of ice or freeze things, they can also put people to sleep. Weather witches do just that. They can change winds, weather - that sort of thing. Emotion witches are very dangerous. They can see auras much clearer than other witches. They can change your emotions and mess with your dreams. There has been occasions where people are more than one type of witch, and if they are all five types they are called a tygod witch. We think that its where the humans got the term god from. Did that make sense?" I nodded at Matt. So Chris is a weather witch then, I wonder what Damon is. I followed Matt into the next room and saw what looked like a black metal box at the end of the room.
" Please don’t say that I have to go in that! " I exclaimed.
" Don't worry, that’s for something else. " Replied Matt. " You just need to sit down at the table. " With the uneasy feeling in my stomach easing, I sat down on the chair that was tucked under the small metal table. Fran sat opposite me and gave me a sympathetic smile. " Okay, this is most lightly going to take up most of your day. There will be five, um, situations that you will need to get yourself out of. They are designed to bring out a specific powers but they may trigger other powers. As well as the set powers for the different types of witches, most will also have a few additional powers like you Chris and Damon being able to see ghosts. Well have fun!. " Before I could protest, Matt had gotten me out of my seat and pushed me through a door that I had failed to notice.
Oh damn. I heard the click of the lock behind me but continued to stare at the door the other side of the room. In between me and the door was a deep pool with no way around. Swimming across crossed my mind but I noticed that there was an extremely strong current coming towards me and I wasn’t a strong enough swimmer to go against that. So I am going to have to try to part the water. Hmm. How to part water? They should give you like an instruction guide or something. Or I could just,
" IRA! " Yup, that worked just fine. Turning to face Ira who was now beside me I said "How do you part water? "
" Bloody hell Bree. You might as well just ask me the meaning on life. I would say, close your eyes and picture it parting probably. " I gave her a nod and turned to the water and though hard.
Part.
Part.
PART.
PART GOD DAMN YOU!
I opened my eyes when I felt wind start to pick up, Ira was gone. Wind was making my hair whip round, spinning faster and faster. I let out a scream of frustration and suddenly the wind picked up so much that it slammed me into the wall at the other side of the wall before stopping. Ouch! Weird, didn't Chris start a wind when he was angry at Ira? So he must be a weather witch - which means that I am too. Feeling strangely satisfied, despite the blue and purple bruises starting to form on the left side of my body, I opened the door and went through. It locked behind me.
The sight before me was rather intimidating. There was a mob of angry people and I was on a balcony above them and so was the other door. Looking around for some sort of clue as to what is supposed to be done, I noticed the word sleep written on the door that I had just come through. Or I could try to fling myself again, yeah that would work.
Of course, I didn’t actually mean to do that last time and after ten minutes of trying I gave up. Okay sleep, I could try that. Staring at the people, I cleared my mind and thought, sleep.
Sleep.
Oh for god sake! Just get out of my way.
I heard the fighting stop and opened my eyes, expecting to see every one either tired or passed out but they had all gone to one of two walls, creating a path for me to walk through. As I walked past people, I couldn't help but notice that they winced. Did I make them scared, is that why they moved? Wow I must be more that one type of witch. I climbed up the adjacent stairs on to the other balcony and went through the door, hearing the click of the lock behind me. Bam! Big ice wall stopping me from passing the wall. Now this one I can work out, I am supposed to melt the wall with fire I guess. I'm gonna just wait until it melts normally.
" Ira! " What? If I am going to wait I need someone to talk to.
" Bree, why aren’t you doing this challenge? " Ira sounded confused which meant that she had been doing something and not watching me.
" Oh, I am just going to wait until it melts normally. "
" You twit! The ice is spelled so that it wont melt naturally. You're going to have to try to melt it I’m afraid. " I frowned. Every time I have tried to do something I have accidentally done something else that just happened to work. I cant see anyway thought that other than melting the wall. Well here goes nothing. I took a deep breath in and concentrated. Three, two - Ira burst out laughing at my expression. With I quick glare, I made her leave me. If only it was normally that easy. So, okay. Picture the ice melting. An image formed in my head as I placed my hands on the ice.
With all my energy I pictured the ice wall slowly melting. Small droplets of water would slowly start to dribble down and slowly but shortly the wall would get less stable.
With these mental images I could feel a heat starting to form from my hands.
Continuing to picture that image in my mind, more water would start to form and, more water. Water. The image in my head took a drastic change as I unwillingly pictured more and more water coming from nowhere.
Something cold and wet made its way through my shoes. What the? Gasping, I realized that at some point I had taken my hands off of the ice wall and now water was pouring out of them and onto the floor. Water levels rose drastically and I realized that I could easily just swim over the wall. Well I guess that that’s three out of four. I walked into the next room, only to let out an ear splitting scream.
